Nomad Antimatter Field

The Antimatter Field is a shield alternative Nomad Hardpoint Options designed exclusively for the Nomad Ammunition Capsule. It replaces the normally reliable shield with a passive damage reduction system with more survivability.

THe Antimatter Field replaces the armor's Default Shield. It is not as strong or utilitarian as one but cannot be broken.

Description

The Antimatter field is a unique shield alternative designed for the Nomad series power armor that takes advantage of the armors NAM Antimatter Battery power source to passively vent excited antimatter around the armor as a defensive measure.

The venting process is passive and used when a projectile or object at certain speeds are detected by the armor monoeye systems and turns active to vent a negligible flux of excited antimatter in the direction of the projectile(s); Which when encountered by the excited antimatter expands and then implodes in on itself effectively nullifying physical matter and making it appear to have disappeared for the most part before it reaches the target due to the near-invisible nature of the excited antimatter.

The antimatter field is not as reliable as a normal series of shields but is instead built upon survivability since, due to a shield's ability to become overwhelmed or break the antimatter field is always active. Its overall purpose is to diminish projectile and aetheric energies to a signifigant degree; Allowing the suit's natural armor to absorb the attack while receiving negligible damage in return. Hence it can increase survivability in a fight due to not being able to break but still allows damage to pass if considerably diminished.

The antimatter field works best against projectiles such as bullets, slugs, and such munitions but has little utility against energy weapons such as plasma, lasers, etc. The excited antimatter naturally interferes with oncoming aetheric energies and as such works as well on Aether weapons as it does kinetics. The antimatter field does little to nothing against the concussive force of explosives such as missiles or grenades but does nullify shrapnel. The field is always passive to avoid imploding nearby matter but when active can destroy physical matter around the suit such as walls, people, armor, etc.
