Construction started on the Functional Atmospheric Projector in YE_39 as a method to start bringing the weather systems of 188604 under control.

The facility is planned to eventually be around 4 square kilometers in size, and house hundreds of shield projection units based around a single control tower. The array can be used to slow, strengthen, or divert wind currents to help bring sandstorms near the city under control.

The name for the facility was provided by the I'ee as the independent could not agree on a name.

The facility is located just slightly south west of Osman City on 188604, very close to the remains of Mt. Gleipnir(s).

The Functional Atmospheric Projector is built from hundreds of shield projectors. Each generates a wide electrostatic beam capable of applying a very fine pushing force over a large area. The cumulative effect of all of these pushing forces is sufficient to alter weather patterns in the local area, physically pushing away the intense sandstorms that ravage the planet.
