Niskord

Niskord is a drug that promotes rapid blood production. It is most suited for minor to moderate wounds and can be use as a supplement in major surgeries.

Overview and History

When Droksin was introduced in Nepleslia, the medication was available for military use only. At the time, NAM was the sole producer - due to legal issues of the day, NAM was only allowed to sell its goods to the Nepleslian military or lease ships for civilian use. To offset this, Origin Industries set out to produce a generic brand of the same drug. With the help with a former NAM employee who had developed Droksin, OI was able to ready the civilian equivalent named 'Niskord', an artificially created chemical compound that affects Nepleslian, Geshrin, and even Yamataian physiology in a much similar way to its hormonal cousin.

Though NAM now sells Droksin and other products to the public at large besides the military, Niskord remains on shelves as a generic brand from Origin Industries.

Effects

Niskord seeks out and stimulates red bone marrow to rapidly produce new blood cells at what would otherwise be a highly abnormal pace, thereby aiding in recovery from blood loss. Like its military version, Droksin, Niskord drains the subject of energy and creates hunger as its side effects - due to this, it is advised that the individual using it is kept adequately fed and hydrated.

Description

Niskord comes in three forms; liquid, ingestible capsule, and gas.

The crimson liquid with gold speckles is mainly used by hospitals and medical-bays for severe cases of blood loss. It can be ingested via mouth, set up for intravenous drip, or directly injected, though the former-most is not recommended due to unpalatable taste. Medics administer the ruby, see-through capsule version for immediate first aid during the aftermath of battle and combat trauma. The capsule is filled with the same liquid that is primarily used for more advanced cases in larger quantities.

In gas form, Niskord is almost colorless with a hint of gold - a minty smell can also be taken into note. To administer the gas form of Niskord, it must be mixed with pure oxygen for the lungs to accept it. The drug is then absorbed by existing red blood cells along with oxygen. As these cells travel throughout the body, the drug is released, stimulating the red bone marrow. Supplemented with proper hydration, Surgeons use this form for long and bloody surgeries.
