The highest-level of enlisted personnel before reaching Non-Commissioned Officer status, Gefreiter are often used as Assistant Squad Leaders. Unlike their Assault Legion and Weltraumflotte Marine counterparts, Schirmherrschaft Squads are not divided into fire teams and are often kept consolidated.

In the Kriegsflotte and Luftwaffen Airships, Gefreiters are often placed in charge of a Room or Group in their Department for a specific duty.
