Even in the Scientific Studies Service (SSS) there are those people who are in command, or in charge. These are typically senior members of the organization, and have experience. Typically these people are placed in charge of a ship such as a Tansaku-class Science Vessel, or a star base like the Kisaki-class Starbase. These people are ultimately responsible for the safety of the personnel under them as well as the equipment they are given.

Typically these people are good at motivation, decision making, and possess good communications skills.
