Any organization the size of the Scientific Studies Service (SSS) have a common factor. There are records to be maintained and paperwork to be processed. This is the domain of the clerk. Clerks ensure that personnel records are maintained, that reports are filed and routed appropriately. In general they help ensure that the information side of the organization runs smoothly.

They are indispensable Administrators, and commanders within the SSS. Often a clerk will be assigned to them as their personal assistant. They are trained in the use of computers, filing systems, operating procedures, and applicable laws the SSS operates under.
