The Kyoushokoudai or Kyousou Institute of Technology is a private college located in the southern portion of Kyousou. It is home to about 5,000 full time on-site students. The Institute was formed back before the formation of the empire. Currently attendance is limited to citizens of the Yamatai Star Empire.
The college has most of typical student sporting teams. Its fencing team is one of the best, trained by volunteers from the Tamahagane Samurai.
Another area where the college excels is their sailing teams. The college also hosts an annual regatta.
Owing to its proximity to the ocean, the college mascot reflects traits that the college eschews. They chose the Okoze (Stingray) a creature that combines grace with an effective defensive capacity.
The physical campus sits on a site along the Sea of Caitel. The campus shape is hexagonal, and covers 25 square kilometers, or 38.6 square miles. The main campus is located at the center and the remaining space is divided into six triangles and each is dedicated to specific aspects. This includes such things as fields where experimental crops are grown, areas where new construction methods are tried, etc.
The college has two levels:
It offers degrees in the following fields:
Kyoushokoudai's core purpose is the passing along of knowledge in science, technology and art that will serve the Empire. The college is focused on advancing and educating students in ‘practical sciences.’ The college strives to cultivate intellect and aesthetic appreciation in its students, stewardship of the natural environment, and blending of art and science.
The school is not owned by the Tamahagane Clan, nor does the clan exercise any direct control on the board. The school operates off student tuition, alumni donations, and private donations. Half of the private donations come from the Tamahagane Clan, which also offers several scholarships for deserving students. Donations come in both monetary and material form.
