This is the data storage technology used by the Poku Saeruo Degonjo. The basic functionality is based on the neurons in the Poku'vonai brain, but they are synthetically created. The Qaktoro brought this technology with them during the Norka (The Exodus).
Iginâ Wumyjo Fiqorka Neuron Storage Module is used by the Poku'vonai as a non-volatile data storage medium to be used in conjunction with Iginâ Jodau'ta Fiqorka (Neuron Processor Module). The Poku'vonai use them to store large volumes of information.
The Neuron Storage Module has a fluid filled glass chamber in which the synthetic neurons operate. It is enclosed on four sides with metal and has a connector on each side that is enclosed. When active the fluid and neurons glow.
Capacity: A module has the storage capacity of 100 Terabyte.
Dimensions:
Each module has four connectors. Each connector provides data connectivity, power, and nutrient fluid. The connections allow the modules to be connected to a Iginâ Jodau'ta Fiqorka (Neuron Processor Module), or to other NSM's for data arrays.
Because the module operates in a fashion similar to the neurons in the brain, they require a form of nutrition. The nutrient fluid contains oxygen and the chemicals to operate; recall data, store new information, and establish new pathways.
Like their organic counter parts information is stored in Dendritic spines that form on the neurons. However the module itself learn in a limited capacity. The module learns which content is more frequently accessed, and develops optimized data transfer pathways for it.
The Neuron Storage Module is a non-volatile memory. Removing the module from power shuts it down and the data is retained in the Dendritic spines. Just as with other data storage sections of the module can be selectively erased or overwritten.
All Neuron Storage Modules have the ability to be completely purged of all data. This feature is most commonly used to prevent data contained in a module from falling into the wrong hands. A Module can be erased by specific commands that cause the neurons to revert back to their nascent state. This process takes sixty seconds for all neurons to revert.
