History

Life aboard a spaceship is hard; it is often hard to tell night from day unless the vessel is equipped with proper time keeping equipment. It is often spent between cramped bulkheads, in maintenance corridors attempting to fix common issues from the rigors of space travel-long hours spent in engineering, or on duty. The food is often terrible, or at least bland. Many compare it to prison-they are not wrong, as being crammed into a small flying box with however many other people is…aggravating to say the least.

The Model 44 Standardized Crew Bathroom only serves to reinforce this notion; as the showers are either to hot or too cold, and just small enough that one can't avoid the stream. The toilets being little more than cold metal pots being flushed with a force that has one wondering if it leads into space. However they do mitigate outbreaks of disease among personnel. A running joke among yeomen is 'If one hasn't gotten lockjaw yet from taking a dump, then they aren't squeezing hard enough.' A bit of cheer from an otherwise unpleasant situation.

Function and Design

Much like the rest of the Standardized Ship Components, the Model 44 Standardized Crew Bathrooms are little more than a metal box with whatever amenities are required-showers, toilets, sinks, etc;. The design much like other Iron Company ship components are built with efficiency in mind-using as little space as possible. This often comes at the expense of crew comfort. The water heating while of good quality is generally uneven with its efforts, and the toilets, in-spite of being too small flush with enough force to ensure that it does not get clogged. The sinks are much the same as the showers. All in all-the design while certainly performs its job well enough is not particularly comfortable; though there is one cold comfort-the officers and enlisted both share in the misery.
