Build and Skin Color: Aoi is a small Neko with tan skin.

Facial Features and Eye Color: Aoi has big sky blue eyes, a small nose and a heart-shaped face. She wears a pair of Half-Rim Glasses she got from a technician who took part in her creation.

Hair Color and Style: Aoi has dark blue hair she leaves unkempt: it is usually frazzled, wild, and reaches down to her lower back. If the situation calls for it, or she wants to look good she puts it up in a tight bun. The hair is in such a chaotic state because Aoi doesn't really think about her own appearance very much outside of important occasions – as time goes on, this is less and less true.

Ears: Typical Nekovalkyrja ears, covered in fur the color of her hair and somewhat hidden.

Distinguishing Features: Her big blue eyes combined with her figure, hair and glasses make Aoi a very impressionable young lady.

Personality: Aoi is still very young, and is still dealing with having her principles not quite down to pat. However, she dearly cherishes the friendships of her fellow crewmates. She gets along well with people who are funny and amenable, but is frustrated by arrogant, dismissive, or 'loud' persons. Despite being frustrated with someone, however, she sets aside her feelings to present a very patient outward facade. In high-stress situations she typically does her best to detach herself from what she's doing by sinking into the nuances of her OS by using the numbers and information her own body gives her as a sort of shield against what she sees and hears. As a result of this detachment, Aoi can come across as a very cold and ruthless girl quick to shoot first and ask questions later. Certainly, her social skills can be found to be lacking.

As yet, Aoi hasn't found anything particularly angering, saddening, or something that would make her feel exceptionally happy; she guesses that that will change with time.

Shiomi Aoi was born from a batch of Nekovalkyrja to be used in the war effort. She went through the socialization period like most other Nekovalkyrja. She formed her basic personality, and an understanding of her own abilities and skills. The highlight of this 90-Day period was when one of the technicians who programmed the tanks to create Aoi and her sisters introduced himself to her as a Geshrin. He explained more about the history of the war, apologized to her for creating her for combat, and asked what she felt about the whole situation.

Aoi didn't know what to say or feel about what the technician had said, and blurted out a question about his glasses. Amused, the technician gave Aoi the glasses and told her they were supposed to make people see better. Aoi continues to keep the glasses with her at all times, and considers them her most treasured possession because (from a whimsical standpoint) they “make her see better.”

Aoi is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Aoi is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian. She can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, etc. She understands basic codes such as Morse and is familiar with the military alphabet. (Alpha, Beta, Charlie… Foxtrot… Whiskey… So on.)

Aoi received hand-to-hand combat training, followed up with a rigorous training program. She is well-versed in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons she is trained in include energy pistols, knives, and power armor. Personal combat methods she is trained in include grappling techniques, submission moves, and an awareness of how to inflict pain on a humanoid opponent (break the nose, pinch, poke eyes pull on ears etc.) She has been educated on the appropriate place and time to use her training to either kill or stun an opponent.

Aoi is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. She is proficient in entering and/or searching for information. She knows some basic information on how software and hardware are built, maintained, and function, and can apply this to her every day or work environment.

Aoi received a basic mathematics education, including up to algebra and trigonometry. She understands how she may apply these skills in an every day or work environment.

Aoi has received an education in how Geshrin, Yamataian, Nepleslian, and Nekovalkyrja bodies function. She has been trained in basic first aid, combat medical skills including triage, the 7-Line Request communication format, and various combat-important field surgeries and the use of important medical field equipment. She can identify, prescribe and provide various pharmaceuticals legally in the battlefield on a temporary basis.

Aoi took an interest in fighter and bomber craft in use by the Star Army of Yamatai. During a brief training session spanning most of her short life of 5 months, she learned how to fly shuttles, fighters, and bombers common in the Star Army of Yamatai. By extension, she also learned the basics of operating Mecha-type craft and can extrapolate her knowledge into large starship operation.

Aoi was lectured multiple times by a technician responsible for her creation on the history of the conflict between the SMN and Yamatai. She has a basic knowledge of major events, strategies, and the politics used in the last four years.
