Distinguishing Features:

Personality: Kassandra’s greatest weapon is her willpower. The one thing anyone always mentions when asked about Kassandra is her fiery will. She has the resolve and foundation to hardly every be beaten in a struggle of confidence and resolute stead-fastness. Partially developed from her often grim childhood, Kassandra has grown up to believe in her own ability to get herself out of any situation. However, this doesn’t mean she is brash. She has a great respect for her superiors and their roles in the army. In the chaos of battle, she appears calm, reserved and all together collected. But remove her from the battlefield, she can be often blunt, frank and unintentionally crass. It is her nature to be honest no matter the situation. Below the layers of a hardened professional soldier, Kassandra has a very endearing side, which stems from her love for her little brother. Due to her times as an orphan, Kassandra holds soft spot for children, and hardly ever passes up the opportunity of helping one in need. She is a reliable soldier, caring big sister and a monster of battle- more home in a battlefield trench than in a political or mundane position.

Kassandra Hammerhand, was born Kassandra Thatchwood in YE11 on the Nepleslian Colonial Expanse planet of Freemud (P1-6). Her father was an elder Nepleslian Marine named Sigmund, while her mother was a daughter of a wealthy mining baron from Neplesia Prime named Helen. Helen had given up her line to be heiress of the mining corp. to marry Sigmund and together they had moved to affordable housing on Freemud. Helen was a kind, ferociously intelligent and strong willed woman. Sigmund, was a reserved but caring father. Sigmund would almost constantly be off fighting for the NSMC, so both Kassandra and later Felix would see little of their father. And yet they both have fond memories of him. Their mother Helen would tell tales of their father’s adventures and brave campaigns across the galaxy. This instilled into Kassandra, romanticized ideal of her father and one that would lead her to join the NSMC one day.

When Kassandra was 7 years old and her mother heavily pregnant with her little brother Felix, it was discovered that Sigmund had perished along with his comrades at a battle during the many conflicts that Nepleslians found themselves in. Devastated, Helen’s health deteriorated. She was barely kept alive to give birth to Felix. The years that followed were hard on the Thatchwoods. Helen grew weaker and weaker, so the role of leader of the household fell upon Kassandra’s shoulders. In her teens she took the task of providing money and food for the family. Often she would be away to Robertsville, procuring jobs at the mining facilities. She felt it was her duty to her mother and father to protect them from any harm. But, she could not save everyone. Helen soon passed away and Kassandra never fully recovered from the loss of her mother. To his day she continues to feel it is her fault she couldn’t save her mother.

Afterwards, Kassandra and the young Felix moved out of their home. They were given residence in the miner’s residences built to house the workforce close to the mining facilities. Kassandra worked feverously to make scrape a living for Felix, to send him to school and to help him grow. Felix is a naturally bright boy and grew up into a smart young man. Kassandra knew she couldn’t provide everything for him. So against Felix’s wishes, Kassandra helped Felix get adopted to a wealthy mining baron family, known as the Rusosovs, that placed him in elite schools back on Nepleslia Prime. Felix knew she was trying to help but, he couldn’t help feel the act was similar to abandonment. To this day there is a lingering estrangement between Kassandra and Felix. Kassandra herself, later would enroll into the NSMC. Partially to increase the funding for herself and Felix, and to live out the life of her father- to reach his greatness as a marine.

In this time during basic training, she gained the nickname “Hammerhand”, due to her fiery willpower and mean punch she could throw. She gained the respect from her fellow cadets for being honest and reliable soldier. Later the nickname became so frequently employed the army practically now refers to her as Kassandra Hammerhand. After graduating, she went on several campaigns around the galaxy, but most were low intensity affairs. Patrols, policing and escorting operations. Kassandra longed for real battle. Soon she would gain her chance to reach the heights her father claimed.

Kassandra is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, ships, ground vehicles, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. She is fluent in Nepleslian. She can speak and write it correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. Kassandra is also skilled in field communications and is proficient in all rudimentary forms of communication (hand signals, flashing lights, etc).

Kassandra has received intensive hand-to-hand combat training (primarily focused on disabling and/or killing opponents) and has followed up that knowledge with a rigorous training program. Weapons he is trained in include pistols of all types, knives, grenades (and other forms of explosive weaponry) and rifles of all kinds. She is in excellent physical shape and has considerable endurance. She can pilot land-based power armors, but must rely on the suit’s A.I. to do anything advanced.

Kassandra knows how to survive in hostile environments. She can build shelters, hunt and forage for food, build a fire, etc. The character can camouflage himself and is familiar with guerrilla warfare tactics.

Kassandra can understand and give out tactical commands and work with his troop to follow those commands efficiently. She knows the importance of teamwork on the battlefield, has been intensively trained in discipline and morale, and is able to recognize the command structure even while under extreme pressure (combat, etc). She can also recognize ambush points. He knows basic math in order to calculate distances, etc, and can use a tactical map.

Through her experiences and natural charismatic willpower, when the going gets tough, Kassandra can pull those around her and calm them down, leading them to an organized victory.

Kassandra isn't all work and no play. She actually has a good (if not jagged) sense of humor and is also an entertaining story-teller (especially after a drink or two).

Being a hobby of sorts, Kassandra knows her way around the internal mechanics and gears of weapons and armor. She is quite capable of repairing most weapons and armor, depending on the severity of the damage.
