Adrian Hale

Apparent Age: 18
Zodiac Sign: Libra
Height: 5'9
Weight: 163lbs.
Bra Size: N/A
Organization: Nepleslian Navy
Occupation: Starship Operator
Rank: Cadet Recruit
Current Placement:

Physical Characteristics

Height: 5'9 Mass: 163lbs. Measurements: N/A Build and Skin Color: A little bit on the heavy side of average. Fair complexion due to lack of sunlight.

Eyes and Facial Features: Slightly angular face with sharp blue eyes.

Hair Color and Style: Jet black and slightly wavy, cut short as per military regulations.

Distinguishing Features: Adrian's face seems to be constantly locked in a slight scowl, making him look alternately suspicious of everyone or smirking when happy.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality: In spite of rigorous armed forces integration and orientation training Adrian still finds it difficult to pick up on some social cues that would be par for the course in natural-borns. His instructors have noted that he does not currently display the same level of initiative and instinct as the average Nepleslian but that he takes a certain pride in being able to do his assigned tasks. Adrian has come to the conclusion that he is alive because he was the best and that the clones that came before him were failures, thus he prides himself in being able to rise above the failures of his predecessors (his instructors have done nothing to disabuse him of this notion). He is fully aware that if he does not perform his duties well he is of no use to the Imperium generally (or so he believes) and tends to fixate on the possibility of being decommissioned if he is found incompetent.

In dealing with others he is unfailingly polite but gives off an unpleasant “aura”, a combination of body language and demeanour that makes him sound insincere. This often gets in the way of any real friendships with any of the other clones or base staff though he does try his best to be approachable and not anger anyone important. Naturally, as a military clone, he obeys orders without question or hesitation.

Likes: Winning, strategy and tactics, destruction from a distance, military history, ruthlessness, ambition, sweet foodstuffs, 0G environments Dislikes: Losing without giving his best shot, things not going as planned, natural-born, personal combat Goals: Climbing the ranks, naturally. Being given command of his own ship, and generally reaching a point where he no longer has to prove himself, if such a point exists

History

Family (or Creators)

Star Military of the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia (Commissioner) Nepleslian Arms and Munitions (Creator)

Pre-RP

Adrian was decanted approximately six years ago to fill the growing need for manpower to crew the Nepleslian fleet. He was, by all accounts, an unremarkable decant save for the fact that he was the only one given the surname Hale in that batch. When Adrian was old enough to become cognizant of this fact he asked the minders of his batch why he was the only one with that surname, to which the minders had no answer. It may have been an administrative oversight or someone getting bored while rushing to finish up the last round of paperwork before the end of the working week and go out for drinks. The minders simply laughed off the question and went back to their duties, leading Adrian to draw his own conclusions. He believed that he had simply been placed into another batch, though he never shared this with anyone, and that the entire Hale batch had died or otherwise been declared unfit for purpose. This filled him with a strange sense of pride. For him, simply surviving was an accomplishment.

Since he was commissioned for spacefaring work, much of Adrian's training was focused on multi-dimensional math, communications, electronics and basic self-defence and none of his instructors had any real complaints. If they had one concern, however, it was the subject's lack of initiative or creativity. To be more precise, they knew that Adrian possessed these things but never seemed to exercise them at all, instead focusing on low-risk, by-the-book solutions that would achieve results but not always the optimal results. In fact, for the most part, the degree to which the simulation objectives were fulfilled was not always optimal. The instructors also took note of the fact that Adrian seemed to plan out things in advance and have difficulty coping when changes to the tactical situation became too rapid.

As soon as his training was complete, Adrian was recommended for active duty in hopes that practical experience would mitigate his rather stagnant approach. Not only was it detrimental in a soldier generally but the more he was around the instructors, the more he reminded them of some kind of piloting automaton. An unpleasant notion, to say the least.

Skills

Knowledge (Starship)

Adrian is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to starship operations. He has basic knowledge in how to pilot the ship, use communication devices, operate ship's electronic system, etc. Adrian also has a very strong knowledge of the artificial intelligence on a starship and can utilize it to assist his operations on the ship, although this knowledge applies only to the application of the AI, not the repair of it. However, he has no knowledge beyond the basics required to operate the ship. He cannot, for example, break through a password-protected terminal, fix a blast door or clear a communication jam.

Communications

Adrian is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can both send and receive transmissions to/from other characters through headsets, ships, ground vehicles, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Adrian is fluent in Nepleslian. He can speak and write it correctly and efficiently, and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. Adrian is skilled in field communications and is proficient in all rudimentary forms of communication (hand signals, flashing lights, etc).

Survival

Adrian knows how to survive in hostile environments. He can build shelters, hunt and forage for food, build a fire, etc. He can camouflage himself and is familiar with guerrilla warfare tactics.

Strategy (Tactics/Discipline)

Adrian can understand and give out tactical commands, and work with his battlegroup to follow such commands efficiently. He understands the importance of teamwork on the battlefield, has been intensively trained in discipline and morale, and is able to recognize the chain of command even while under extreme pressure (combat, etc). Adrian is able to recognize ambush points. He knows basic math in order to calculate distances, etc, and can use a tactical map.

Fighting

Adrian has received intensive hand-to-hand combat training (primarily focused on disabling and/or killing opponents) and has followed up that knowledge with a rigorous training program. He is trained in using pistols of all types, knives, grenades (and other forms of explosive weaponry) and rifles of all kinds. Adrian is in excellent physical shape and has considerable endurance. He is also able to pilot land-based power armors, but must rely on the suit’s A.I. to do anything advanced.

Mathematics

As multi-dimensional mathematics are an essential skill for plotting firing solutions and calculating relative trajectories in space combat, it was one of the more advanced subjects taught to Adrian. Though he is no biocomputer (not enough Sappho juice) he is competent enough to doublecheck an A.I.'s calculations with both speed and accuracy in the heat of combat. Generally a redundant skill in the current day and age but NAM are nothing if not thorough.

Art and Vocations

Studies have found that inculcating hobbies or interests instead of waiting for the clone to develop their own helps to reduce the onset of a rumoured condition known as clone madness. Adrian has been taught to scrimshaw with a variety of materials, keeping his mind focused when not on duty.
