During the first 3rd of YE 42, the lord Jack Pine was scheduled to give a speech at the center of Obsidian City's park. This speech was intended to detail [Insert details here]

During the speech, Jack Pine was shot in the chest by an assassin with a 25mm hand-cannon and died shortly afterward. Following this, a bomb went off, dispersing a fear-inducing chemical agent. A panic broke out, and several other people were hurt. In the aftermath, the assassins escaped.

Following the assassination, Jack Pine's adoptive daughter, Neera Pine, ascended to the throne. While many were skeptical of the authenticity of her claim to the throne given her adopted nature, she shepherded the New Dusk Conclave through the end of the Kuvexian war and instituted a number of changes intended to help solidify her power base.
