Gui'adahe'yutshe Prison

Gui'adahe'yutshe is a maximum security prison owned and operated by the Gui'chra Trade Family in cooperation with the Neshaten Monarchy and located in the Gui'adahe'yutshe Desert. The word 'Gui'adahe'yutshe' is Tinacen for 'Valley of Death', and the name of aptly coined due to the prisons location. The first level of the prison was originally built in ER 700, and is still undergoing construction to this day. The prison is staffed by both civilian and military members.

About Gui'adahe'yutshe

Gui'adahe'yutshe is a prison located forty kilometres south of the Netoshen on the Nesha Prime (Planet). The prison was built with multiple layers with two above and ten below ground levels, with the exception of the above ground levels - all underground sections are independently powered, have their own water and air supply. Prison and military personnel all live within the complexes underground residential level for a full season before being rotated out and a new crew is brought in.

Its above ground complex is a series of false structures designed to confuse and disorient criminals who escape or people who may attempt to break a criminal out of prison. The perimeter is surrounded by a seven foot tall fence, beyond the fence is a mine field stretching nearly three miles around the complex, this is then surrounded by another fence that is ten feet tall with razor wire covering the top. Underground turrets line the outside of this fence and are intended to ward away unwelcome guests, such as people who might get to curious about the fence. Turrets located within the fence line are there to kill any criminals that try and cross the mine field, any criminals killed within the fence line or beyond it are kept where they've fallen and their bodies given to the deserts local animal population to devour. Criminals who die within the prison was removed and dumped out in the desert.

Several outside landing pads allow for easy transfer of prison personnel, while criminals are transported by ground in prison buses where the driver has an enclosed cab while criminals sit within a non-climate controlled passenger compartment. There are hydroponic farms located both above and below the surface that grows the food used by the prison. Another thing about the prison is its vast above ground defence network, in addition to the turrets that keep criminals in, there are also several ground to air emplacements to protect the prison from aerial intrusion; any craft that approaches the prison without prior authorization is shot down.

The prison is built out of modular components and has a large number of redundancies, these backups allow for the prison to function even when primary and secondary systems are taken offline either from within or from external attack.

Prison Levels

There are two above ground levels and ten below ground levels.

Above Ground Levels

The above ground levels are mainly administration, farm processing, and criminal receiving.

Level 1

Level 1 is the first ground level and is the receiving area of the prison, from here criminals are processed and then assigned to one of the below ground prison levels. This level also contains the above ground hydroponic farms and also landing pads. There are elevators the lead down into the prison, some of the elevators are dedicated and only go to certain levels.

Level 2

The level above the ground level is purely administration, where prison staff monitor the perimeter and also the areas beyond it; this is also where staff can 'purge' the prison levels of criminals in the event of a major outbreak or attempted escape. These administration offices also contain areas where prison staff can wait to disembark for the capital but also contains vast armories to put down uprisings or to defend the prison from external attacks.

Below Ground Levels

THere are ten below ground levels, these levels are mainly detainment levels but also house a few residential areas for the prison's personnel to live in for the one season they work there.

Level 1 - Personnel Residential Living Area

Level 1 is where the prison's personnel live and reside. This is one of the prison's largest levels, as it contains a large number of false passages and rooms to confuse anyone who isn't supposed to be there; the level contains residential, recreational, and cafeteria modules to serve the prison's relatively small civilian and military workforce. Level 1 has a dedicated elevator to move betweeen this floor and the ones above it; it four secondary elevators that allows the prison personnel to respond to problems in the detention blocks. Level 1 is independently powered and gets water from underground springs.

Level 2-7 - Detention Blocks

Levels 2 through 7 are the vast detention blocks; these blocks contain hundreds of cells to house one or more criminals and also have walkways for prison personnel to walk and observe criminals. All of these levels are closely monitored by prison staff. There is a central shaft that runs through the middle of the blocks that contains the elevators that criminals use to enter the block, numerous turret emplacements located in the walls and along the sides of the shaft ensure that criminals don't try and riot, as the prison's policy to kill any criminal that gets out of hand. Levels 2-7 are 'not' powered independently but instead share power and water amongst one another.

Level 8-9 Military Level

Level 8 and 9 is one of the levels whose main entrance is located almost ten miles from the actual complex itself, it is a dedicated level where military personnel are stationed and can respond to sudden attacks on the complex or even on the nearby cities. It has two elevators, one that leads to the prison's staff residential level, and another that leads to the prison ground level. Numerous 'shafts' located in the ground allow military starfighters to be rapidly deployed to counter any threat in the area.

Level 10

Level 10 houses power generation and backup systems for Level 8/9, and is intended to also power the prisons many defences.

Components

There are a number of components that make up the prison.

Prison Cells

The Prison Cell is where criminals are housed, the cells are six feet long and four feet wide; and contain a straw bed and a toilet. There are camera's located within the ceiling to monitor inmates, each cell also has two vents - one for air and another for the prison's purging mechanism. The cells have a single door and no windows to see out, largely because they are located below ground; a light in the ceiling is kept on twenty hours a day with the remainder being when its off. Criminals are kept in their cells for all hours of the day, and are not allowed to leave them; the front of the cell is made out of reinforced transparent armour to give the criminal 'no' privacy even from other inmates; this same material is located in the cells walls are certain points so that criminals can see into another cell although the windows are designed so that prisons can't actually 'see' each other.

Staff Housing

Prison Staff live within staff housing; all staff have their own dedicated living quarters. These quarters are generous in size, containing a bedroom with two beds, two bathrooms, a living room, and a dining room. The living room can be furnished to the staffers desire although a number of built in TV's allows an individual to watch what is going on around the prison or even a specific criminal.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria is where prison staff can grab a quick bite to eat either before or after work, the cafeteria is staffed by professionals; the cafeteria is open all hours of the day.

Recreational Hall

The Recreational Hall is where the prison staff can go to relax after a hard days work, there are a number of games and activities for the staff and also areas with TV's and even an amphitheatre.

Systems

Several systems are in place to protect the prison, but also help in its day to day operations.

Purge System

A purge system designed by the creators of the prison, this particular system is intended to be used to put down riots or specific criminals, and because of this can be selectively used. The system pumps utilizes a noxious agent that paralyses the body, rendering the criminal unable to move. A secondary agent can then be pumped in that starts to devour the criminals flesh, how long it takes depends on how much of this agent is pumped into a cell, which means that it can take anywhere from an hour to even several days for a criminal to die.. and the pain is excruciating.

However, the paralysing agent of the purge system is only used when a criminal who is not on death row is causing problems. Otherwise, the flesh portion is the most commonly used method to control the prisons population while also executing death row inmates.

Defence System

The prisons defence system is segregated into various parts to help protect it from both internal and external hacking; the system is responsible for operating the prison's many turrets and also for monitoring sensor and radar stations located not only on the complex but also around it. The system is programmed to operate the prisons internal turrets and to fire on any criminals that break out of their cells, or - when it comes to above ground - attack any unauthorized craft or vehicles that enter into the perimeter.
