Designed in YE 37 as a supplement for the line of newly designed Yamataian kinetic rounds, the Yamatai 8ga Electromagnetic Smoothbore is a big and simple series of shells designed for close in work. While still similar to existing shells, increased muzzle velocity combined with a new shape for the slugs actually give it a greater punching power. The 8ga Electromagnetic Smoothbore Ammunition is designed to be fired from a smoothbore barrel. Instead of using a traditional shell with a primer, wadding, and shot cup, the 8ga EM shell uses a cup shaped ferrous sabot to encase the projectile when fired, falling away once the barrel is cleared.

The Armor Shot shell is an experimental 21 x 45 mm wad firing six balls of #000 Nerimium shot. While unable to penetrate PA grade armor, the pellets are fast and heavy enough to transfer a great deal of kinetic energy to the target when they hit, as well as damage various pieces of equipment on the armor. Armor Shot does tier 3 damage

The Kinetic Slug shell fires a heavy 21x5mm Nerimium slug, designed to slam into armor and punch through it. The Kinetic Slug does tier 5 damage.

The Plasma Slug shell generates a tightly packed blast of high energy plasma when fired, similar to the Ke-M6-W2921 Atmospheric/Space Plasma Rifle. The lack of focusing hardware, however, limits the range of the plasma blast. The Plasma slug does tier 5 damage.

The Airburst Slug explodes after a preset distance, affecting an area of 1 meter in radius. The Airburst Slug does tier 4 damage.

The Scalar slug does not actually do any damage, instead it generates a large (10 meter Radius) EMP field that fries electronics, cooks off ammunition, and stuns living organisms. The Scalar Slug does tier 3 Nonlethal damage.
