The A'ka Veltin or mono-filament blade is a recent addition to the arsenal for Poku Saeruo Degonjo members. It became available in 751 CY (YE 32).
The mono-blade was originally developed as a cutting tool for use by Poku'vonai when partaking in a Wadâmo or Harvest. This tool was developed to help cut material and equipment free. But its usefulness made it popular as a weapon to use against any beings still on-board the captured vessel.
The weapon does not use a traditional blade, instead a mono-filament thread of Saemâqi (Star Metal) is held suspended between the hand grip and the end of a telescoping rod made of Mâqirây (Bound Metal). The A'ka Veltin is not a true weapon, it just works well as one. However, it is not designed to be used by a person wearing strength enhancing gear. If the telescoping bar is bent it becomes inoperative.
To assist the user in seeing the cutting edge is is illuminated by a low powered laser beam.

Two small rechargeable power cells are in the hand grip to supply power to the laser and the telescoping mechanism.
The laser can operate for 64 minutes of continuous operation.
The telescoping system can extend and retract 30 times on a single power cell.
