Unlike Laser Batteries, which are built into the hull much like the gun ports of old warships during the Age of Sails, the Laser Turret uses a complex system of lenses, mirrors, and a gyro-scoped platform to create a turret that can swivel. While this gives the added advantage of attack angle, it forces the aperture of the laser to be smaller and thus reducing its attack power.

The 160mm Laser Turret is the Abwehrans Mid-sized bore of Laser turrets. Normally found on Escorts and Cruisers, the 160mm has a standard tri-barrel turret in order to make its damage potential practical.
