The standard armor of the Abwehran Armed Forces (AAF), the Tri-Layer Armor is composed of three layers of protection to cover the hull or chassis of a vehicle. Two versions of this Armor exist with one created for space and the other as planetary armor.

In the space version of armor, the outer most layer is a layer of depleted uranium. To protect against energy-based weaponry, the second layer is tungsten/ceramic composite used to absorb and distribute the heat evenly along the armor. The third and final layer is composed of High-Tensile Titanium as a light, yet durable armor.

For their planetary version, the outer most layer again consists of depleted uranium followed by the layer of tungsten/ceramic. The only difference is the addition of a synthetic spidersilk layer approximately 10 centimeters thick to protect against projectiles that happen to penetrate the first two layers.

This is currently being phased into civilian technology.
