A cylindrical shaft leading to an sealed exit on the hull of the ship, the Escape Pod Launcher's shaft has Unidirectional Gravity Plating installed into it that enable the Launcher to propel the Escape Pod out into space.

The Launcher/Storage system has enough room for two lifepods. One is always in position to be launched, yet still accessible to people. The other is placed into a storage unit located across the corridor from the launching mechanism. During emergency evacuation, the second lifepod is moved into the corridor to allow personnel to enter, but leaves enough room for personnel to enter the first one as well. One each pod as been loaded to capacity (or upon command of the highest ranking individual in the pod), both pods are launched in rapid succession.
