Normally located next to their assigned weapon, an Ammunition Storage Hold is in essence a large room honey-combed with storage struts to hold ammunition dedicated to their assigned weapon. Each Storage Hold has an automatic loading system built in to move ammunition from storage struts to the weapon's ammo feeders. However, in case of loader failure, manual loading systems using pulleys and cables can be used to move ammunition from storage struts to Ammunition Feeds.

If an Ammunition Storage Hold is hit, the entire compartment is designed much like a shaped charge. This means any volatile ammunition explodes outward and away from the ship to protect the vessel from catastrophic damage. Unfortunately, this normally leads to the destruction of the weapons battery in question.
