Much larger than the Abwehran Standard Medical Bay, the Advanced Medical Facility can be comparable to a small planetary clinic more than a shipboard medical facility. Because of the amount of volume it takes up, it is normally built into Capital Ships rather than small Escort-sized vessels.

The Advanced Medical Facility takes up four decks of a ship, each divided into specific tasks.

The first deck of the Advanced Medical Facility is a generalized area of the facility. It houses the Office for the Chief Medical Officers of the facility and includes individual recovery wards and an area for basic diagnosis. This area of the Medical Facility sees the most usage.

An entire deck of the Facility is dedicated to Surgical Rooms. These are specifically designed clean rooms with decontamination facilities for each room. These decontamination facilities are separated from their assigned rooms and house the only entrance/exit into the Surgical Room. The number of Surgical Rooms range from 5 at the smallest to 20 at the largest.

Located on the same deck as a vessel's Shuttle/Hanger Bay, this is mostly just one large bay connected to the Shuttle/Hanger Bay via a Decontamination Room. The large bay is used for emergency triage purposes in case of medivac from battlefields on planetary landings or boarding operations. There are also small cells to isolate/quarantine individuals who are suspected of carrying unknown pathogens.

The final deck of the Facility, this level holds four research laboratories for all forms of scientific study. Each labratory is a clean room that is hermetically sealed in case of accidents and is also armored to contain explosions. Because of these, Laboratories are also good for bomb disposal. Each laboratory is connected to a centralized cold storage unit which houses samples from planetary exploration or known pathogens. This Unit is also armored and hermetically sealed, but also runs on a separate filtration system in order to contain accidental breakage of individual storage containers.
