AAF Rules of Engagement

This document states the rules of engagement of the Abwehran Armed Forces to be used in any combat situation. This document was put into effect in the Second Quarter of AF 260.

Rules of Engagement

Article I

This article defines what an Engagement is.

  • Any meeting with opposing forces.
  • Any moment in which aggressive actions are made toward or by Imperial forces.
  • Any moment in which another force takes hostile action against any Imperial position/territory/city
  • Any moment in which a clear attack is made against Imperial forces.
  • Any moment in which Imperial forces make a clear attack against opposing forces.

Article II

This Article states what rules apply to Abwehran forces in Engagements.

  • When in a defensive operation, Imperial forces are to only fire when fired upon, or when clear hostile intentions are made by opposing forces.
  • When in an offensive operation, Imperial forces may only fire upon Combatants.
  • Imperial forces are to avoid any unnecessary damage to the local terrain/urban centers.
  • Imperial forces may not fire upon Non-Combatants. (Civilians, any unarmed and/or neutral party such as medical services.)
  • Imperial personnel must be properly identifiable to the enemy. (i.e. Wearing a recognizable uniform, or some other accepted form of identification.)

Article III

This article defines what rules apply to opposing forces.

  • All enemy combatants must have some proper form of identification. (i.e. Uniform, color, etc..)
  • Any enemy combatant who takes any non-combatant as a shield (Regardless of their willingness) has included that non-combatant as an enemy, and may be neutralized so long the Non-Combatant participates in the engagement.
  • Any enemy combatant who fires upon Imperial Non-Combatants is guilty of War Crimes and unless the enemy combatant surrenders, is to be eliminated with extreme prejudice.
  • Enemy combatants are allowed to request a truce under a Flag of Peace, and are not to be fired upon until the Flag of Peace is no longer flying. (i.e. A white flag.)
    • Should the Enemy fire while a Flag of Peace is flying, the Flag shall be considered to be no longer flying, and the enemy forfeits their right to make further requests under the Flag.

Article IV

This Article defines what actions may be taken when the Rules of Engagement are broken.

  • Any Imperial personnel who fire upon enemy Non-Combatants are guilty of War Crimes and are to be arrested and set on trial.
  • Any Enemy combatants who fire upon Imperial Non-Combatants are guilty of War Crimes and so long as they refuse to surrender are to be eliminated with extreme prejudice.
  • Any Enemy combatant who is NOT clearly identifiable (i.e. Dressed as a civilian, wearing a different uniform, or using a different form of identification) is a spy, and may be subject to immediate execution or interrogation.
  • Imperial personnel who break any rule of engagement may be subject to fair court-martial at the discretion of their commanding officer.
