Each emitter in the FMS Pulse Laser series is specifically designed to carry an additional damaging effect secondary to the trauma of being shot with a laser. By spreading the beam into an even cone, the secondary effects of the emitter become more pronounced as the angle becomes more severe, effectively trading range for a gimmick.

The red variant of laser tends to have negligible secondary effects. It tends to create holes in matter that are slightly smaller and deeper than the other lasers making it particularly effective at penetrating armor.

When focused through a wide-angle lens the armor penetrating effects are only slightly less pronounced.

The ionization chamber of the blue emitter delivers an intense electrical jolt that is especially harmful to shields, causing them to be disrupted and drained of power. The disruption of the shields often leads to shots passing through unaffected when exposed to sustained fire. On a smaller scale it is a taser with better range and the key to burning out electronics.

When focused through a wide-angle lens the shield disrupting effects worsen at the expense of armor penetration.

When used in most breathable atmospheres it tends to ignite the gasses in the air as it travels and has the potential to ignite the item struck.

When focused through a wide-angle lens the super heating effects worsen at the expense of armor penetration. It is ideal for stripping paint off of starship hulls as a man-portable emitter can only penetrate the first couple millimeters of matter at its widest setting, or roughly a quarter of a meter at it's narrowest setting.

This nasty weapon is not visible to the human eye(the emitter flash is but the beam is not). It creates smaller than normal holes that burn much deeper than the red variant, making it possible to “pilot snipe” an armored vehicle's operator. Its penetrative properties make it especially important to know what is on the other side of the target as the beam is more than capable of through and through penetration.

This emitter requires a specialized lens and is not compatible with a wide angle lens.
