Miya is a Player Character played by Lin and is currently involved in the Asamoya plot.

Build and Skin Colour: Athletic, lithe build. Carefully maintains a total lack of tan despite the time she spends outdoors.

Facial Features and Eye Colour: Miya is actually fairly plain. She has high cheekbones and thin lips, and her hazel eyes are large and almost always very wide.

Hair Colour and Style: Miya's dark brown hair reaches down to the middle of her back, and is almost invariably worn in a ponytail. She has quite the collection of ribbons for this purpose.

Distinguishing Features: Almost none, beyond a manufacturer's tattoo and a habit of staring.

Personality: Insatiably curious. About everything. She is a passionate explorer and learner, constantly driven to find out new things about the world. She is a very hands-on sort of woman, and far prefers studying things herself than reading about them second-hand. When she has time to herself, she likes nothing more than being on a planet and being out of doors and in a natural environment. Socially, she is outgoing, but prefers knowing more about other than others know about her, and that eccentricity colours most of her conversation.

Miya was manufactured in YE 29, and flagged for the research corps shortly after. She spent most of her early weeks in Melanchol, alternatingly training to confirm the successful download of her basic skills, learning more in-depth laboratory work, and exploring the landscape around her home. Quite recently, she was deemed fit for active duty and was assigned to the YSS Asamoya. When the commander of the Asamoya defected to the United Outer Colonies, Miya followed along with most of the crew.

Miya is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. She is fluent in English and Japanese. She can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. She is also quite comfortable with telepathy, and is practicing being able to speak and transmit simultaneously.

Miya received hand-to-hand combat training, followed up with a rigorous training program. She is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons she is trained in include energy pistols, knives, grenades, energy rifles, and power armour. She is also a consummate plinker and target-shooter with an old solid-ammunition rifle, and is quite proficient with such arms.

Miya is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. She is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.

Miya received basic mathematics training, including algebra and trigonometry. Her focus in the sciences has also given her insight into other branches of mathematics.

Miya is trained in first aid techniques, and is comfortable offering basic care.

Miya's primary concern and chief joy in life is the study of analytical chemistry. She is proficient with microscopy, molecular biology, geology, chemistry, and metallurgy, and is confident in her ability to identify and analyse nearly any substance in a laboratory setting, and to a lesser extend in field-work.

Miya is a neko, and posesses all the usual acrobatic and athletic limberness. As well, she is fairly outdoorsy, enjoying boating, hiking, rock-climbing, and skiing whenever she has the opportunity.
