Build and Skin Colour: Nicholai is a chunky man, but that isn't to say that he isn't strong. Almost all of his weight is muscle. Nicholai has slightly tanned skin, mostly from working outside. Nicholai has really large hands and fingers. Facial Features and Eye Colour: Nicholai's face is wide and sturdy. He has brown eyes. Hair Colour and Style: Nicholai keeps his hair short, mostly because it is easier to manage that way. His hair is brown.

Personality: Nicholai is a pretty calm person. It takes a lot to really anger him, although it has happened before. Nicholai generally is a confident, loyal, and someone who tries to be gentle. Nicholai keeps a picture of his family taken before his wife died with him.

Nicholai was born ID-SOL, trained and then shipped out to serve in the military, where he served for 2 years. Around his second year of service while on shore leave Nicholai met the love of his life, Mellissa Renaldes. It was then that he decided to retire from the military and settle down with her, and a few months later that's just what he did. Nicholai took up a construction job to pay the bills for their place, and a year later Whisper was born. The first time he held Whisper's tiny body in his immense hand, Nicholai felt as if he were going to break her fragile frame, so small and powerless, yet captivating at the same time. As if her cries for attention were tearing at his inner self, Nicholai felt powerless for the first time in his life.

A year passed uneventfully, Whisper grew quickly and life was mostly good. Near the end of the year however Mell got really sick. At the time the family was really strapped for cash, they were already two months behind on the rent and the landlord wasn't going to wait anymore. At that time Nicholai took a second and third job, trying to get enough money to get treatment for Mell. He worked himself to exhaustion, almost getting fired for mistakes made on the job. As Mell got worse, Nicholai worked harder, just barely making enough money to pay back the missed rent. The night that Nicholai had gotten enough payment to pay for the medical bill Mell's condition was at its worst. Nicholai rushed her to the hospital. In the end though, the sickness had progressed too far, Nicholai had to watch as his wife slowly died. For the next week and a half Nicholai stayed at his wife's side until she finally passed.

When he returned to work a week later he discovered that he had been fired. For the next week and a half Nicholai walked around in a daze, unsure of how to handle the situation. Nicholai contacted Mell's parents and broke the news to them. They offered to let him and Whisper stay with them and for a little while he did. After about a month of living with Mell's parents Nicholai decided he needed to get a job. Nicholai wanted to be able to support his daughter, to buy her nice things, give her a good education when she was old enough, so he left Nepleslia to get a job in space. While the work was more dangerous the pay was better.

Nicholai is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, ships, ground vehicles, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Nicholai is fluent in Nepleslian. He can speak and write it correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. He is skilled in field communications and is proficient in all rudimentary forms of communication (hand signals, flashing lights, etc).

Nicholai received intensive hand-to-hand combat training (primarily focused on disabling and/or killing opponents) , however since he has been out of the military now for a while, he has forgotten some of the techniques. Weapons he was trained in included pistols of all types, knives, grenades (and other forms of explosive weaponry) and rifles of all kinds. Nicholai can repair weaponry with adequate tools and time, however anything other than repairing anything other than pistols will take longer than necessary due to not having worked with them for a while. The character is in excellent physical shape and has considerable endurance. Nicholai is also able to pilot land-based power armors, but must rely on the suit’s A.I. to do anything advanced, however since it has been a while since he has done so, Nicholai will need a refresher course before he can pilot effectively.

Nicholai knows how to survive in hostile environments. He can build shelters, hunt and forage for food, build a fire, etc. Nicholai can camouflage himself and is familiar with guerrilla warfare tactics.

Nicolai can understand and give out tactical commands and work with his troop to follow those commands efficiently. He knows the importance of teamwork on the battlefield, has been intensively trained in discipline and morale, and is able to recognize the command structure even while under extreme pressure (combat, etc). Nicholai is able to recognize ambush points. He knows basic math in order to calculate distances, etc, and can use a tactical map.

After Nicholai got married he learned to cook a little bit. Nicholai can make a variety of food, but nothing too fancy. Of course his food isn't the best there is, but it isn't burnt either.

Nicholai got a job with a local construction company that built houses in order to support his family. Nicholai is familiar with current construction methods.

Nicholai can identify, manufacture, handle and dispose of explosives. With the proper tools, he can detect and disarm enemy explosives as well.
