Generalleutnants in the Schirmherrschaft are specifically a Landwehr rank and is often skipped over by those from the Luftwaffen and Kriegsflotte. Generalleutnants are normally given command of Corps in the Landwehr. However, the senior-most Generalleutnant, known as the Generalleutnant der Landwehr, is often given over all command of a Field Army.
