The Na-J2 “Ichabod 3” is a series of power armor scale bipedal robots originally deployed in YE_33 by Nepleslian Arms and Munitions to carry heavy support gear in a ground based power armor support role.

The Ichabod series has been in development since YE_32 in the form of humanoid combat robots. The original design produced a humanoid robot with minimal armor and sensor systems integrated into the torso. This design ended up going unused, but components contributed to the Ichabod 2, which was a bipedal system containing a squad, armored ‘torso’ section with no limbs and various integrated sensor systems. By YE_33 the 4thaaspfleet was starting to look for an automated combat system to support power armored operations. The Ichabod 2 was used as a basis for this, the legs were beefed up, jump jets were added, the feet were redesigned into the 3 pronged ‘claw’ configuration, and armor section were added to the unit’s shins.

While in operation, internal gyroscopes help keep the J2 upright, making it difficult to knock down. Redundant mechanical pistons make the legs difficult to disable, and jump jets located just behind and below the leg ball joints allow the unit to keep pace with power armors through rocket powered jumps. The jets also allow the bot to roll onto its back and then lift itself up to standing, to prevent knock downs from disabling the unit entirely. Offensively, a DESCO laser system provides both sensor capabilities and enough firepower to threaten power armors. A smaller shotgun mounted on the lower sensor turret can be used for smaller operations, and is typically configured with door breaching or other mission specific rounds rather than for direct combat.

The resulting designs came into service in YE_33 and generally serve a support role, carrying gear that would be too heavy, too awkward, or too dangerous for power armored soldiers.

The initial version of the Ichabod is armed with numerous mini-missiles, designed to provide fire support for power armors. This model was used as a basis for the other variants, though its size often gets in the way of it being able to go through doorways.

The first variant of the ichabod produced was designed as a power armor repair system, designed to keep pace with power armored soldiers as well as to keep them in the fight by providing quick repairs. Unlike many of its brothers, this variant is not equipped with weapon systems, but instead with 4 mechanical arms.

The C version of the ichabod mounts a miniaturized defense system designed to protect power armored soldiers from a variety of threats. Four laser guided mini-missiles provide air defense capabilities while a small caliber mini-gun can put out a large volume of small rounds to saturate and destroy incoming projectiles. This ‘guardian’ model is often referred to as ‘Bob’ by the marines.

Though many power armors carry speakers, it is impractical to carry one of sufficient size for psy-ops. The D variant of the ichabod doesn’t have the same restrictions, and mounts a massively powerful speaker designed for intimidating the enemy through words or music. The D also carries numerous smoke and relaxant grenade launchers for when something a little more than sound is required.
