The original Seiza-Class Cargo Hauler was developed and constructed by Motoyoshi Fleet Yards in YE 30. In YE 43, the Yugumo Corporation decided on a major refit and continued production of the ship.
In YE 43, with several of the original Seiza-Class Cargo Hauler still in service or in storage, the aged design made sense for a refit. The successful conversion of all of the corporation's stored Ayana-Class Escort into Misha-Class Explorer it made sense begin looking at similar solutions for other models.
With the 1B refit, the Seiza-Class Cargo Hauler would take on a role as a medium-sized freighter now that the new Shuryoku-Class Super Freighter had become the corporation's larger-scale cargo ship. Due to the soundness of the technologies deployed in the original ship, the actual refit would prove to be rather simple, which would reduce the time needed for these workhorse cargo ships to be converted and redeployed from Amatsu-Motoyoshi "Port Hachidori". It was decided that once the existing stock underwent a refit, new ships of the class would continue to be produced by the Yugumo Corporation.
The Seiza-Class Cargo Hauler 1B would have the same appearance as the Seiza-Class Cargo Hauler.

The Engineering and systems compartment of the Seiza-Class 1B spans two decks at the aft of the ship. The upper compartment houses the Mizu II Series CDD Drive - Nami II Wave Assembly Control Systems and the Yumeoibito Hyperspace Fold Drive as well as other critical systems of the craft.
A large cargo hold, with a forcefield, contained airlocks along the port and starboard sides. The hold spans 500m in length by 280m in width by 80m in height. The center of the bay is arranged to hold stacks of Standard Starship Cargo Containers. Robotic arms, conveyor belts, anti-gravity lifts are utilized by the hold crew to manage, stack, load, and unload cargo from the hold. Hand-held inventory tracking pads connected to the ship's computer to keep track of the goods being shipped. Specialized environmental and power hookups are embedded into the floors for connection to cargo containers that house exotic materials that require specialized conditions.
A shuttle bay is located in the aft section of the ship beneath engineering. It can hold 2-3 medium-sized shuttles.
The Seiza-Class Cargo Hauler (1B)has many systems, most of which have been updated from the original design. Systems can be accessed or repaired at a Star Fortress or Starbase.
