The Light Submachine Pistol (LSP) was developed as a sidearm for the M-series Nepleslian power armors such as the NAM Terratech General Combat Armorsuit – “Hostile” and Aggressor Heavy Assault Armor. While the weapon lacks in stopping power, it makes up for that with a large volume of ammunition, reliability and comparatively low recoil.
The NAM LSP Light Submachine Pistol series was created in the earlier YE30, following the creation of the NAM Terratech General Combat Armorsuit – “Hostile” and Aggressor Heavy Assault Armor powered armorsuits as a suitable sidearm for military combat. The technology and mechanisms present in LSP models are mostly derived from old Zen Arms submachine pistols models with some small updates to hardware to keep up with competitive armor designs.
In YE 34, the munitions were upgraded to a more powerful round after demands for a weapon that was more effective against modern shield systems.
The first design to see past NAM prototype testing, the LSP-01a is a rather simple chemical-fired submachine sidearm, roughly one and a half feet in length. There would always be a chance that the main weapon could be either unusable or lost during combat, and as such a secondary weapon was necessary to ensure maximum combat efficiency during strenuous situations. Additional ammunition cartridges can be attached to the underside of the skirt armor.
The LSP fires armor-piercing depleted uranium rounds.
Although meant for use by NAM Terratech General Combat Armorsuit – “Hostile” SMoDIN armored infantry, it can be used by nearly anyone, including unarmored personnel. The kick and heft of the weapon might be a little cumbersome to those with smaller frames, however.

A second variant of the LSP-01a was created in order to bridge a rather awkward gap that had become apparent when initial design intent was for the LSP model to be a viable side-arm by both NAM Terratech General Combat Armorsuit – “Hostile” and Aggressor Heavy Assault Armor units. The LSP-01a was designed for use by the NAM Terratech General Combat Armorsuit – “Hostile” only…leaving the drastic difference in sizes between the NAM Terratech General Combat Armorsuit – “Hostile” and Aggressor Heavy Assault Armor out of the equation. Aggressor Heavy Assault Armor-clad ID-SOLs were actually unable to wield the LSP-01a effectively, simply due to the fact that the fingers of the armor would not fit into the trigger of the LSP.
The solution was simple enough; reproduce the same parts used to construct the LSP-01a and increase their size by roughly 55%. Thus, Nepleslian Arms and Munitions was left with a three-foot LSP-01b, which uses the same size of standard magazine and round caliber while being large enough to handle effectively by Aggressor Heavy Assault Armor soldiers.

This LSP variant, dubbed the SSP-01a, was a redesign made for use by the NIGHT Stealth and Reconnaissance Combat Armorsuit. The most notable differences are the size (X-Tech slimmed the weapon's profile immensely) and the bulky silencer.
