REAL System

The REAL system (Rationalization of Electronic ALgorithms) is a technology developed by Origin Industries for recreational purposes as well as allowing people to program and interact in more complicated ways with terminals without needing as much experience.

The LNC was the first device to use this technology.

More about the REAL System

The REAL system is based on a process dubbed “Realization” in which an operator of a neural linked device undergoes perception acceleration so that they can function at the speed of the computers they use. Simple perception acceleration would not make it easier on an intellectual level to interact with computers, so along with the acceleration the REAL system processes the information being exchanged and converts it into an image that can be more understood by the user. This image happens to be a digital world where the user is represented by a controllable avatar and most functions are represented by tools or weapons.

Important things about "Realization"

  • Vulnerability: In order to lessen the burden of perception acceleration, the user does not process sensory information from their physical body when they are Realized, since the information would be coming in at a different rate from the information of the realization.
  • Fatigue: The perception acceleration used by the REAL system puts a large strain on the body when used. It is advised that one limits how long they stay connected and monitor their health when performing a “Realization”.
  • Awareness of Surroundings: When a realization is performed one's physical body is left in a state similar to sleeping, with their brain processing minimal information from their body. Users should be wary of this and make sure a realization is performed only in safe locations and in a body position where they will not hurt themselves without muscle control.
