The System was named after Chujo Motoyoshi-Kotoku Sui.
The Kotoku System was first discovered, explored, and mapped by the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet in YE 29 with the rest of the Yugumo Cluster. Like most systems in the region, it became part of the United Outer Colonies in YE 30 until that failed nation's fall in YE 32 when it was captured by the Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthyar Xhrafuklurp (SMX) and the NMX . The system actually saw very little development over the years; with sparse colonies, resupply ports, and mining facilities. In YE 34, at the end of the Second Mishhuvurthyar War it was returned to the Yamatai Star Empire.
It was briefly colonized by the Lorath Matriarchy in YE 34, switching hands yet again, and became the home of a strange shortlived cult under someone named Glynvalur Starhearth. The cult along with the Lorath Matriarchy disappeared during Project Checkout in YE 39 when it again was returned to the Yamatai Star Empire.
In YE 43, when the Motoyoshi Clan and Yugumo Corporation brought settlers back to the system when they established a new settlement on Kotoku I.
Information on the Kotoku System is transmitted by a Yomawari-Class NavComm Buoy placed in YE 44 as follows:
