Fujiko University

Lacking a proper education system for at least nearly 20 years, the Fujiko University (富士子大学) was founded in YE 44 as a remote campus and opened to the public a year later in Shenhong City. The main objectives of the university is to help create a new generation of educated Nepleslian Reds to lead them and to develop/innovate their stagnant tech base.

History

Since the founding of Kennewes University in YE 27, the Reds had a chance to achieve the beginning of a proper education system. But their campaigns against the current rulers of Nepleslian space ruined it all when they lost their last territory of Kennewes in YE 30.

Surviving Red leadership, focusing more on rebuilding (and failing), education did not factor in the long term as they believed clones and their basic deep learning skill training was sufficient for their society. Save for the occasional clone trained to be a scientist, stagnation naturally began to take root with the Reds that capped their development quickly.

The first attempt of education came in the mid YE 30s when a number of Elysian Patricians were dissatisfied with the Elysian Celestial Empire returning to the arms of the Yamatai Star Empire after the attained independence once more. Many were of old schools of thought, but were smart enough to not be completely rigid in their beliefs. Himiko's Gift was the straw that really drove a large number of them to leave. Anywhere was better than a false empire. A number of them ended up settling on Fujiko. They thought less of the Reds, but their nature just could not let them leave the Reds current state of “ignorance” without at least trying to improve it.

Most Elysian Patricians soon opened up schools and training centers that offered cheap classes to attract early adherents. Some were religious in nature, but the majority were Pankration schools that also taught a basic education as part of the “mental training”. The most successful of them was the West Franklinburg School taught by Stravoula Nautia. Blessed with “ample assets” to swoon the male dominated clones, her students paid the price of oogling her by learning Elysian boxing as well as medical and natural sciences.

To provide college level education during the deep learning session of Lily Type Artificial Nepleslians, an university needed to be created using publicly available information of curriculum around the Kikyo Sector as well as consulting with professors from theses schools to perfect it. The Fujiko University was registered with the department of Yamatai's Department of Education with a shell company named “Fujiko Education Group” in YE 44. When the Fujiko Development Corporation (FDC) in the same year, the company was absorbed into the FDC as its Department of Education.

In YE 45, in preparation to offer physical classes to non-Lily clones, the FDC (under Ryu-Mizumitsu Clan urging through their representative) bought out the West Franklinburg School, along with a number of other Patrician Schools that existed on Fujiko to serve as the physical form of the university used to train older and non-Red students.

Admission Requirements

With its current goals in mind, the Fujiko University has an open admission with the following restrictions:

Financial aid is available for those in true need of it (namely non-citizens of the Empire).

Academic Clubs and Organizations

To give a more rounded experience for students, the university has a number of academic clubs and activities available. Below are a few examples of known organizations.

Military Drill Team

The Fujiko University's Military Drill Team is a student-led organization that is dedicated to promoting discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness among the students of the College of Military History and Science. The team performs precision drill routines at a variety of university and community events, including athletic competitions, military parades, and special ceremonies.

The Military Drill Team is made up of highly motivated students who are committed to upholding the traditions and values of the old Red military (with Yamataian tradition mixed in). Team members undergo extensive training in marching and drilling techniques, learning to perform complex routines with precision and accuracy. They also work on physical fitness and conditioning, ensuring that they are in top physical shape and able to perform at their best during competitions and performances.

Marksmanship Team

The Fujiko University's Military Marksmanship Team is comprised of talented and dedicated students primarily from the College of Military History and Science known for its rigorous training regimen and its commitment to excellence. The team trains year-round in state-of-the-art shooting ranges located on campus, honing their skills with various types of firearms, including rifles, pistols, and shotguns. They also participate in simulated military exercises, which help them develop the tactical awareness, teamwork, and leadership skills that are essential to military service.

The team charges a fee for non-teammembers to make use of their ranges.

Description

Fujiko University's main campus is nestled at the foot of the White Tortoise Low Mountains located within Shenhong City's Jingdu District(with remote campuses and regional campuses located at Red Sand City, Rufusland, and Ukmirt). The main campus is split into two main halves: the Academic Quarter and the Residential Quarter. Both are connected by University Square, a green space located around the Shenhong Transit station servicing the university. The shape of the campus resembles an old form of Lianjia coin (largely circular and squarish in the middle).

Academic Quarter

The Academic Quarter is the northern half of the university campus, where the majority of the academic buildings and research labs are located. This district is designed for maximum efficiency and innovation, with modern buildings and facilities that reflect the cutting-edge nature of the university.

The academic buildings themselves are sleek and contemporary, with large, bright classrooms and state-of-the-art labs and research facilities. Many of these buildings are connected by elevated walkways, allowing students and faculty to move easily between classrooms and labs, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

At the heart of the Academic Quarter is the main library, a vast and imposing building that serves as the hub of knowledge and information for the university. With its wide range of books, journals, and databases, as well as its many study rooms and computer labs, the library is a central gathering place for students, researchers, and scholars.

Beyond the academic buildings, the Academic Quarter is the Richard Sims Research District. Designated for research institutions, it is already home to a number of private firms partnering with the university on various projects. The district provides opportunities for students to get hands-on experience and participate in research projects with potentially top scientists.

Residential Quarter

The residential district is located on the southern half of the university campus, and is designed to provide students with a comfortable and convenient place to live during their studies. With a mix of dormitories, apartments, and townhouses, the district offers a range of housing options to suit the needs of different students.

The dormitories are modern, high-rise buildings that provide students with single or shared rooms, along with common areas for socializing, studying, and recreation. Many of these dorms also feature amenities such as lounges, kitchens, and laundry facilities, as well as 24-hour security and maintenance services.

For students who prefer more independent living arrangements, the residential district also features a number of apartments and townhouses, many of which are designed with students in mind. These units are spacious and well-appointed, with features such as private bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms, as well as ample common areas for socializing and relaxation.

Beyond the housing options, the residential district is also home to a range of shops, restaurants, and other services, making it a vibrant and self-contained community within the university campus. There are also several parks and open spaces, providing students with opportunities for outdoor recreation and relaxation.

University Square

University Square is the central hub of activity on the university campus, serving as the main gathering place for students, faculty, and staff. Located at the crossroads of the academic and residential districts and home to the Shenhong Tram station, the square is a bustling, energetic place that is alive with activity day and night.

The elevated Shenhong Tram line bisects the square, adding to its unique, futuristic atmosphere. Despite this division, the square remains a convenient and accessible location for students, as it is surrounded by a mix of academic buildings, student services facilities, and shops, cafes, and restaurants.

The square itself is designed as a large open space, with plenty of room for students to gather, socialize, and relax. There are benches, picnic tables, and other seating areas, as well as green spaces and gardens that provide a peaceful oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the campus. Philosophical debates are commonly heard on the green spaces, sometimes drawing large crowds hoping it will turn into a brawl. University security are usually not too far away when this occurs.

Transportation

The main campus can be accessed via Shenhong's Public Transit Routes 3 and 81. There is also an elevated metro station serviced by the Shenhong Rapid Transit Authority's line 1. The elevated metro line acts as the dividing line for the two halves of the campus.

Once on the campus, individuals can get around by either foot or by hoping on the free bus shuttles that converge on the campus' Student Union building (5 routes in total).

People

Most of the people located on the main campus of the Fujiko University are students or faculty/support staff. As the majority of the population on Fujiko IV are Reds, the culture on campus reflects that. It is common to see either an intellectual discussion or a full on debate of an idea on the side of the street with a crowd of others listening in like it was a blood sport (minus the shouting). Students are permitted to open-carry firearms, so long as it fits into a holster/harness and does not contrast with the uniform.
