The Ryu Keiretsu is a conglomerate and loose network of allied corporations ran by the Ryu-Mizumitsu Clan. It is both vertically and horizontally linked to a number of corporations across the Yamatai Star Empire and Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia. The Ryu Keiretsu slightly competes with the Ketsurui Zaibatsu in offering alternatives to the Star Army of Yamatai. But the Keiretsu largely focuses on the civilian market within and out of the Yamatai Star Empire.

Prior to YE 42, Ryu-Mizumitsu Clan assets expanded and contracted over the years. But the corporations the clan has always owned and protected were Sakura Machinery, Sakura Trust and Bank, and Ryu Heavy Industries. The Ryu Keiretsu was created in YE 42 after the clan entered various business alliances or purchased corporations outright to expand their business interests.
The Ryu-Mizumitsu Clan wasted no time in expanding their business interests. A key opportunity in growth was since in the first month of YE 43 with signing of the Ryu Keiretsu And Yugumo Corporation Agreement of YE 43. Gaining additional resources, places to explore, and a shipyard, the clan hoped to use the success to springboard their frontier ambitions. The Mitsuya System was discussed as a potential location for further exploration.
In YE 44, the Keiretsu started diverting investment into the region of space consisting of the systems Fujiko,Ukmirt,Rufusland, and Arzank. Historically the territory of the exiled Nepleslian Reds, the Keiretsu President Ryu-Mizumitsu Masashi viewed it as an area needing of economic development to curb the tendency of Reds towards criminal activity.
Changes with the Nepleslian Reds caused Masashi to change his plans for the region however. Having a short civil war (as the Reds are known for), he saw an opportunity to influence the young Red nation-state in a direction he desired. Instead of running the region to develop it, RyuK aimed to become a major benefactor.
