Aratani has silver white hair that falls to her hips. She has cut the front of her hair so it frames her face and falls to shoulder length. She is athletic and stands just over five feet. She is flat in the chest with a strong and slim core and sinewy arms and legs. She has flat almond shaped eyes that are light purple and have thick black lashes. She has a pointed jaw and defined cheekbones with cream skin. She weighs 105 lbs and is 5 foot 2 inches.

Playful and quick to smile, she has numerous facial expressions and doesn't try to hide any of them. She is quick on her feet but sometimes thinks about the chase rather than the destination. She likes other women and being with them. She surrounds herself with company and comrades but harbors deep needs to be free of the needs of others, unless they're coming from a commanding officer.

She likes to be nose deep in a piece of equipment, tools in hand and at the ready if she's not exercising her combat skills. She loves her power armor more than anything else she can think of.

Aratani was created by Ketsurui Zaibatsu in YE 38.

Trained to be a combat engineer, Aratani can repair her own weapons and also maintain general upkeep of power armors. She is interested in tinkering with her power armor, but does not yet have much real experience doing so.

Boot camp brought her close to several people and she retains friends from Fort Victory Reserve Center on Yamatai. She stayed seven months there after her creation. She went through basic training and then received additional training in power armor after permission was granted for additional occupational training.

After chancing upon Ise Momoka, the warrant officer of the YSS Sakishima, at a ramen house at the winding down of the festival in Central Uesureya, Koizumi Aratani found herself comforting the mini neko. Her new comrade offered something Aratani knew she shouldn't have- a drink. The two found a bar and got into a hapless fist fight there, which was full of back fists, the mini neko calling for more punches, and a spinning back kick.

Tipping the bartender and fleeing the scene, the two of them made their way to the Chiaki Destroyer and boarded through the cargo bay together before enjoying a soak in the on-board onsen.

The ship went out into space and hijinks ensued, nothing to write home about.

Koizumi Aratani gained a respect and admiration for Tokuko while on the ship, learning from her and doting on her lovingly.

Aratani was then transferred to the YSS Hana to aid in the Kuvexian war, alongside Tokuko.
