Designed in YE 32 by Origin Defense Manufacturing , the PD Phased Array Laser is a refined version of the earlier Origin Phased Array Laser, tuned for a higher rate of fire and damage at the cost of range. The PDPL uses nanoscale construction, so that the array is comprised of extremely small lenses, which focuses electromagnetic radiation into a beam of focused energy. Because of the specifics of the weapon, the PDPL is made in small square patches on the hull of a starship.
