This basic starship weapon was designed by Origin Defense Manufacturing in YE 29

Commonly referred to as the Phaser, the Phased Array Laser is a recent development from Origin Industries. Meant to be used as a secondary weapon on Origin Powered Frames, and as a Point Defense weapon on small starships, the Phased Array Lasers are well suited to their task. Through the use of nanoscale construction, the array is comprised of extremely small lenses, which focuses electromagnetic radiation into a beam of focused energy. The Phased Array Laser can also be reconfigured into an optical sensor, with a visual range the same as a sensor as it is a weapon. Though relatively low tech, the Phased Array Laser is a cheap, versatile weapon.
