The Froggy Teleport System is part of a family of teleportation systems designed for use on starships of the Star Army of Yamatai for teleporting people (including people in power armor) from one location to another. It is manufacturered by Ketsurui Fleet Yards. The nickname of this system is the “Froggy” which is named after Big Froggy, a leader in the Uesureyan Star Empire in the pre-Yamatai Star Empire era.
Its teleportation is fast, relatively quiet, and more or less safe. The small scale of this allows it to be used discretely, and in regular clothing.
Price: 50,000,000 KS per system, and 50,000 KS per remote pad. Sold exclusively to Star Army Logistics, and must be ordered through them by authorized personnel and signed off on by a Taisho.
The first operational teleportation devices were made in YE 27 and in YE 29 the YSS Asamoya was built with the Star Army's first teleportation chamber. As the Star Army slowly made advances in teleporter technology over the next roughly 20 years, it began to make new types of teleporters for different uses such as the revolutionary Ke-P8-R4600 Teleportation Pad. Then, research into portal devices found on Concordia Station after it was discovered by the YSS Resurgence led to breakthroughs.
The Ke-S3-4600 was developed by the Star Army Research Administration (SARA) under a program led by Kessaku Sakai Yuuko1) and in YE 46 prototypes were issued to the YSS Battle Of Yamatai, YSS Battle Of Nataria, YSS Battle Of Ayenee Capital City, YSS Kaiyō II, and YSS Resurgence. On the Izanagi-Class Dreadnought, the teleportation system allows rapid movement throughout the huge starships.
In the second half of YE 46, the Star Army began to install “Froggy” systems at all major Star Army Bases beginning with Star Fortresses, on the new Nozomi II-class Scout and were to be retrofit on the Takumi-Class Expeditionary Command Cruiser 2A variant.
The “Froggy” consists of multiple parts:
The starship-based teleporter chambers consist of individual teleporter pads each able to teleport up to about 1000 kilograms of mass to an arbitrary location, subject to constraints of the environment and aiming location.
KFY Ke-S3-P4600. The 4600 is a teleporter pad originally designed for intraship or inter-ship travel. It works by transforming objects and people into phased energy and casting it to the desired location where they re-materialize, which can be done by wire or wirelessly, with a range of 5 AU or 750 million kilometers, if you can aim it.
The Ke-S3/B3-P4600 cannot teleport through intense gravity fields like those used in ship shields or in the vicinity of black holes or extreme disruptions to subspace or hyperspace. It can cause the teleporter to fail at calculating trajectories so KFY has placed automatic safeguards against this2).
When the teleportation occurs, there is a flash of light and distinct “SHING!” sound. Objects with more mass make more noise. A teleporter can be used every 2 seconds when connected to a remote pad or every 20 seconds without an associated remote pad.
Teleporting without a pad is safest when done in a line-of-sight from the starship. There is a 1%-5% chance of teleporting into the wrong place if a remote pad isn't used, which can be harmful or fatal, depending on how difficult the spot is to reach.
In order to make teleportation reliable, KFY made receiver pads that can be carried to the remote location and which can be connected to the starship pad or linked to each other via the starship's pad. They can be set up as “in” or “out” or both.
Remote pads are not a full teleporter system but are used to ensure the teleporter on the ship is sending/retrieving the correct person from the correct location. Teleporter pads emit a teal glow and sparkle when active. There are volumetric indicators of the pad's direction.
It's possible to teleport the remote teleporter pads to places (e.g. sending a pad first, then using the more reliable connection to send people).
Allow 3 meters of open space above any teleporter pad in use. It's important that there is space.
When passing through the teleporter, exit the pad promptly before anyone else can teleport through. Remaining on the pad while someone else teleports into you can be harmful or fatal.
“It would be bad.” –Kessaku Sakai Yuuko
