Aoba Kuranosuke is an NPC created by GM Wes (see Wes's NPCs). He appears in the Resurgence Of Yamatai plot.

Aoba Kuranosuke is a man of Yamataian-Uesureyan ancestry, descended from a long line of samurai warriors and soldiers. He has a Japanese-like appearance with short black hair, dark eyes, thick eyebrows, and a mustache and trimmed beard. He is a shrewd and intellectual man who measures his words carefully and tends to stay several steps ahead of things. He is 176 centimeters tall in height.

Aoba was born in Ketsurui no Iori, Yamatai (Planet) in YE 11 and joined the Star Army of Yamatai at 21 in YE 32. He spent 4 years at the Ketsurui Academy majoring in Space Warfare with dual minors in Military Strategy and Philosophy. In YE 37 he was assigned to his first starship, the YSS Yamakuzure in Fourth Fleet as a Shoi Starship Operator. In YE 39 he was promoted to Chui and transferred to the YSS Azalea in the First Expeditionary Fleet. When the First Expeditionary Fleet was absorbed into the First Fleet in YE 41 he was promoted to Taii and became the Azalea's Star Army First Officer.

In YE 43 he became a Shosa and the second captain of the YSS Resurgence¹⁾.

In YE 44.2, Aoba was promoted to Chusa. In YE 44.7, Captain Aoba commanded during the Arrival of the Norians and oversaw the successful evacuation of hundreds of orphaned Norian children and babies²⁾.

In YE 45.2, Aoba got a promotion to Taisa.

In YE 45.2, Aoba was killed with Mishhuvurthyar unexpectedly boarded the YSS Resurgence and one managed to somehow get to the bridge, attacking the bridge crew and eating Aoba.
