NMX Science Advisors are typically ship-based crew members (either Mishhuvurthyar) who are proficient in sensor operation, and trained in expanding NMX sciences. They study new flora and fauna to determine its risk to NMX, as well as possible ways to utilize them against their enemies.

Science advisers also conduct experiments, most of them are intended to test a new device, agent, life form etc. Sometimes these experiments serve no significant purpose beyond amusing the advisers and their supervisors.
