Standing at 5’6”, Hotaru Sasaki is tall for a Nekovalkyrja. Her body has a skinny, yet pear-shaped profile. She has a light beige skin tone and jet black hair. Hotaru Sasaki was born in YE 32, a “child” of the Second Mishhuvurthyar War. As a young Nekovalkyrja, she was a power armor infantry soldier. She served on the frontlines of the Second Mishhuvurthyar War, including during the Battle of Yamatai and the Second Battle of Nataria. However, Sasaki switched to a command track in YE 35, hoping to become a training instructor after she discovered her talent for teaching when she took command of a squad of fresh Nekovalkyrja. After completing her courses at the Kyoto War College, Hotaru Sasaki started her new career training newly created soldiers at Fort Ready before transferring to Fort Hajime.

In late YE 44, Sasaski was assigned as Captain of the newly-christened YSS Azalea II, tasked with leading a series of incursions deep into Kuvexian space with the objectives of bolstering the Star Army's presence in the region and restoring political stability.
