The Type 33 NMX Emergency Air Mask is a basic face mask and air supply first used by the NMX in YE 33.

The air mask is carried in a white or camouflage rectangular bag with a large flap opening and an attached white shoulder strap. The mask has a full transparent face shield and a hose leading to an air tank stored in the bottom of the carrying bag.

In the event of loss of atmospheric pressure or air contamination, soldiers open the flap, pull out the mask, and pull it over their faces. A 20-minute air supply is provided.

The air supply has an interface port compatible with NMX and common civilian space suits so standard space suit air packs can be used to extend the mask's supply if needed.
