The following is a article of peace between the Lorath Matriarchy and Iromakuanhe Astral Commonwealth written shortly after first contact in AR 937/YE 35. For the purposes of this document, the IAC will hereafter be referred to as 'the Commonwealth', while the LM will be written as 'the Matriarchy'. The agreement was signed at the same time as the 1st IAC-LM Trade Agreement.

• The Commonwealth and the Matriarchy are considered to be at peace with one another.
• The Commonwealth and the Matriarchy are considered to be equals in terms economic and military might.
• The Commonwealth and the Matriarchy are considered to be unequal in terms of population and territory, but have the same right to exist.
  • The Commonwealth agrees to act responsibly with its larger population, and will not use it to leverage the Matriarchy into a disadvantageous position.
  • The Matriarchy agrees to act responsibly with its larger territory, and will not use it to leverage the Commonwealth into a disadvantageous position.
• The Commonwealth and the Matriarchy are considered to be in a state of nominal cooperation.
  • Both parties are considered to be de-facto friendly, but without a formal alliance.
  • Neither party can use the hostilities engaged by the other as cassus belli to invade a third.
  • Neither party can be justifiably invaded by a third on the basis of the two's current state of mutual cooperation constituting foreign support in any ongoing hostilities.

• The Commonwealth and Matriarchy agree to allow military forces to pass eachother's territory on a case-by-case basis.
  • Both parties may refuse to do so if it puts their own nation at risk.
  • Both parties reserve the right to put guest fleets or other craft under escort.
  • Neither party may refuse to do so if it does not present a significant risk, but conversely endangers the lives of military personnel.

• The Commonwealth and Matriarchy agree to assist one another in military affairs outside of wartime measures as necessary. This includes piracy, Smuggling and search & rescue.
  • Both parties may request assistance for rooting out pirate bases that pose mutual risks from one another.
  • Both parties may refuse such requests if conditions do not allow for it easily.
• The Commonwealth and Matriarchy agree they are not in a state of military alliance and will not intervene in one another's major conflicts until this treaty is ratified or replaced.
• The Commonwealth and Matriarchy agree to protect eachother's civilian populations if possible.
  • Both parties are only required to protect their own civilian vessels in deep space.
  • Both parties will protect eachother's civilian vessels while in systems that are colonized or play host to military facilities.

• The Commonwealth and the Matriarchy agree that sovereign territory legally consists of a 5 LY sphere around the star of a settled system.
  • Both parties agree that colonization includes planetary settlements, space habitats or any other form of civilian settlement.
  • Both parties agree that any form of colonization, including in-transit colony ships, are considered sacrosanct.
• The Commonwealth and the Matriarchy agree to non-competition in colonial projects.
  • Both parties agree to inform one another of colonial projects in the expanse of space between Iruotl and Lor.
