Distinguishing Features: He always wears a small necklace made of strange metals. He tried to keep his body the same way he had when he was a Geshrin, at his own request.

Three words describe him well: calm, intellectual, and confident. He rarely gets angered by anything and tries to take things as they come at him. He also prefers to out think his opponent rather then actually fight him/her. He's actually a bit of a perfectionist. Making sure everything runs smoothly is not enough for him. Every system under his command must be running at 110%. His confidence in himself isn't high enough to consider himself perfect… he is just self-motivated.

Valen is the younger child of a Geshrin freighter pilot. As a child, he lived aboard the freighter and traveled to many planets and stations. Unlike his sister, however, he did not like to leave the freighter to explore these places and make new friends. His only friend, Travus Polark, was the freighter's cook, but he also hobbied as an amateur hacker. Travus taught Valen a lot about the world of information. This inspired to join the Star Army of Nepleslia as a computer-specialized marine. Although he doesn't do any of the actual fighting, he does hack into terminals aboard enemy ships to disable and possibly take control of the ship's security systems.

After a while of working along-side Nepleslian marines, Valen found that he was an enigma among them. He'd seen some disgusting… and almost disturbing… things that they would do in a casual manner. Thus, this young marine made a decision. He resigned his commission and took the next transport to Yamataian space. Soon after arriving at this strange, new nation, he transferred to a Yamataian body and enrolled in the academy. Since he had already passed the Nepleslian version, he had little trouble… except for a few things. His habit of saluting instead of bowing as well as his rough Yamataian speech put him into trouble every now and then. This only forced him to work harder to achieve success. Fortunately, he tutored a young neko named Reiko in advanced mathematics, whom in return tutored him on how to speech proper Yamataian. They both still keep in touch from time-to-time. Soon after his graduation, he heard of an tech sentry opening on the YSS Eucharis and proceeded through the proper channels to try to get assigned to that ship, not knowing what he'd gotten himself into.

Shortly after being assigned to the YSS Eucharis, the ship captain, Hanako, was kidnapped. During the search, Valen was ordered to investigate a suspicious-looking SUV. When he opened the car door, however, it exploded with enough force to cause severe injury to him. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated. His life was saved, but his dignity, one the other hand, will probably be forever scarred.

Valen is a tech sentry aboard the YSS Eucharis.

Valen is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from others through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat situations. He can speak, read, write, and cypher fluently in Nepleslian/Trade. He is learning to do so in Yamataian as well, but he is having difficulty with this new language. His speech in Yamataian is rusty, yet understandable.

Computers are a no-brainer for him. He has his own personal laptop, but he needs to manually plug it into a password-secured terminal or something to have any affect. He isn't all-powerful enough to wirelessly hack into it, like some people seem to believe. He now knows about Yamataian OS terminal systems as well as Nepleslian ones. He has a great understanding of AI and OS Systems. From certain terminals, he will be able to hack into the critical systems aboard a ship. If he manages to get to the bridge, he will be able to tinker with the ship's AI system, too.

He has taken several math courses, which include trigonometry, advanced algebra, and a even bit of calculus. He was even able to help tutor some of his fellow students at the Star Army academy due to knowledge in this area.

From his training as a marine, he has been trained in the use of hand-to-hand, combat knives, sidearms, energy rifles, and grenades. In his Star Army training, he relearned those things, but also how to use Yamataian service weapons as well as power armor.

If needed to, he can also try to temporarily repair the AI system and even retake the security systems if they are hacked. He constantly checks a ship's systems to make sure they are in prompt and perfect order.

He managed to design and create his own AI system. He calls it “Tori”. It resides in his laptop and aids him in his efforts to hack into terminals and other AIs. He managed to take her with him before leaving the Nepleslian military.

One of his favorite hobbies since childhood is painting. He isn't very good at it, but he loves it none-the-less. He has also gained a passion for writing ficticious novels based loosely on actual events.
