Kamasu Data Chip

Kamasu (梭子魚/カマス, Yamataigo for barracuda), is a the brand name for a set of data chips created by Ryu Heavy Industries' subsidiary Ryu Systems and Instruments. It was introduced into the market in YE 45.

1)

History

Inspired by the technologies used with Savtech JANE and the Fairy Ai, Ryu Systems and Instruments discovered there were few storage mediums available for AI portability. Thus they started developing the Kamasu Data Chip in YE 42 as a data storage capable of carrying the digital construct of an AI, capable of storing and running AI algorithms with ease and efficiency.

It uses advanced data compression techniques to minimize the amount of storage space required while maintaining the integrity of the data. This allows the RAS to store large amounts of data and complex algorithms in a small physical footprint.

The Kamasu was released the next year internally for testing. It quickly became a key component in schemes requiring the AI to be separated from computer hardware such as small craft AIs making use of a simple tablet sized quantum computer. It also had found a use with automation of systems when attached to a single board quantum computer.

Content with the results, Ryu Keiretsu decided to release the Kamasu Data Chip to the public late YE 45.

Appearance

Kamasu Data Chips are robust cases of Durandium Alloy the size of a matchbox (4cm x 2.5cm x 1.5cm). On one end is a magnetically held removable cap that reveals connectors used to plug into electronics. The front side of the case has the Kamasu branding as well as a small screen that projects relevant data. They primarily are colored black with olive drab accents, but they can be customized with any number of colors with the use of Omnihue.

Usage

The Kamasu is a storage device designed to be used as an external drive for AIs, infomorphs, and general data. The Kamasu can attach to different computer systems thanks to a number of intermediate accessories on the market and can be reformatted to different file system types.
