Hiro stands at the fairly average height of 5'10“ and weighs around 175 lbs. His skin is a typical hue for someone of Asian descent. His eyes are a somewhat soulful chocolate brown. His hair is black and cut in a military style. He has to shave daily otherwise stubble will quickly grow. For those who have increased olfactory, he smells like a combination of cut grass and smoke.

Personality wise he is an ENFP-A: The Campaigner. He is a very social person when not on the job. As a musician he is a people person and something of a social butterfly, but on the job he is quite serious and gruff. When not on duty, he can be found at a bar playing music or relaxing in his quarters working on a new or old song. There are three things he always brings with him on any assignment, his two guitars and his amp.

When he is first getting to know someone he may seem somewhat aloof, but as he gets to know someone he opens up. He is quick to make friends though as in general he is a very likable person. 

Hiro Nakamitsu was born on YE 24.9.28 in the city of Kyoto, Yamatai (Planet).

Hiro was born to Yoshio and Satomi Nakamitsu. When he was born, he already had an older brother named Kazuo, his brother was three years old at the time. Three years after Hiro's birth, his sister Hikaru was born. The Nakamitsu family was steeped in traditional ancient Japanese culture. Yoshio and the patriarchs before him taught at the Nakamitsu Dojo. The Dojo specialized in the ancient art of Bojutsu and Iaido, which was later incorporated into Sora-Mai. The family lived above the dojo, at the age of five he was inducted into the art of Bojutsu and Iaido, like his brother before him and his sister after, once she reached the age of five, though unlike his brother he took more of an interest in Bojutsu over both like his brother.

At the age of 15, Hiro was introduced to Metal music, specifically Heavy, Melodic and Progressive. With a group of friends from school they formed a band by the name of Divine Despair. Hiro played both guitar and was the singer for the group, Pai was the drummer, Reece was the bassist and Eiko was female vocals and keyboard. They started out playing small gigs in the megacity of Kyoto, by the age of 18 they were playing the bars. Though, once Hiro joined the Star Army their gigs were few and far between. Though, while on leave Hiro would get the band together to jam and setup the occasional gig.

His father wasn't against him joining the Star Army, but neither was he for that choice either. His father wanted his two sons to continue the traditions of the Takamitsu Dojo, by running it together instead of Kazuo running it alone with their sister Hikaru as his assistant. By the time of Hiro joining the Star Army, he had grown used to disappointing his family, specifically his father. This was due to him getting into playing guitar, and then joining/creating a metal band. It took him a year to simply prove to his father that he could keep to the family traditions while also exploring life as a musician. Even after that his father was not exactly happy with his choices nor his priorities.

Upon completion of both his officer and Starship Operator training, he was selected to serve under Tachiko Motoyoshi, serving as one of her tactical officers aboard the YSS Yukika II.
