Preferred Plots:
Riot is tall and athletic, with long, wild copper-red hair and a permanent, excited grin. She has red eyes and a pair of tall, silver horns that are clearly mechanical in nature.
If there's a fight on, Riot wants to be in the middle of it. She very much falls into the “good-natured delinquent” stereotype, often preferring to speak with her fists first and her words second.
Riot cares about protecting those who are dear to her and completing whatever task she has been assigned to. She strives to be, and cares deeply about, being the best at the things she does and has no problem putting in the effort required to get there - though she'd rather no one knows this. She is, however, always up for a good rivalry.
While she's quick to jump into a fight, laughing all the while, she's savvy enough to avoid getting into situations that are obviously harmful for her, those she cares for, or the mission at hand. If she thinks she can get away with it, however, she's reckless enough to dive into situations that she probably shouldn't. Likewise, she's more than eager to poke the bear in social situations and delights in seeing how the dominos fall - especially if the end result is a few well-earned bruises for everyone involved.
When not on a mission or working some kind of task, Riot struggles with being idle. She doesn't particularly enjoy intellectual pursuits or media and will sometimes make trouble where there is none, just to keep herself occupied.
For most, the Operator initialization process is an environment well-suited to the stable mental and skill growth of new NDC citizens. They learn how to interact, how to use various technologies, and, of course, how to fight.
The girl who named herself “Riot” really only cared about the last one.
As it turns out, another benefit of growing up in a virtual environment is that no matter how much you get your ass kicked, you can get right back up again and keep going. Riot pushed this new finding to its limits. Fellow students, instructors, virtual opponents - if it existed, she tried to fight it. Over and over again, until she'd either broken their will to continue or came out victorious.
As her skills improved, she found herself feeling more and more distant from those around her. They were all there to improve, right? They all wanted to be the best - to contribute to their society in the most important ways? She realized that somewhere along the way, she'd lost sight of why they were supposed to contribute. Strength wasn't for pushing others down - it was for raising everyone up.
Riot, with the delinquent demeanor that her mental model had begun to settle into, was too awkward to properly apologize. Her burning desire to fight and improve was, likewise, locked in. That didn't mean that she was doomed to a life of cruelty, however. She began to share her love for fighting with others around her. She pulled them into friendly rivalries, helped others improve, and let herself be a punching bag for those who needed it. Her rough edges never truly became polished, but she learned of a new way to shine, nonetheless.
She began to smile more and more. Sometimes it was the near-manic smile that she showed when fighting, others the broad encouraging smile she gave to those who needed it. Riot still yearned for the top, to be the best she could possibly be, but now she had a secret goal - to show others the kind of broad back that they could depend on and aspire to stand beside. The top was not a peak, but a journey that could be walked side-by-side.
If others couldn't tolerate her climbing on top of their shoulders as she strived for greater heights, well, maybe the next ones would do better.
