Battle of the North Gate

The Battle of the North Gate, part of the Second Mishhuvurthyar War, was a major operation by the Star Army of Yamatai in the fifth month of YE 33 that opened up the previously-blockaded Ketsurui Military Sector.

The battle started with a strike group lead by the YSS Heitan in Operation Dam Breaker. The Heitan's strike group mission to to neutralize NMX Command and Control facilities at the blockade. Once that was done a second wave of 2XF forces would engage the enemy. The plan was to draw the forces of the NMX towards the 2XF and then the larger force of 6SF ships would attack them from behind.

The Heitan's strategy involved the use of the newly put into service Hayai-Class Gunboats. These were charged with the mission of destroying the station by making a torpedo run on it while the 21st Squadron - Fighting Diamonds were charged with protecting the gunboats.

The 2XF strategy also involved the use of some unconventional equipment as part of the second wave. 500 OI-M1-1B Advanced Ashigaru "Asura" and 500 OI-M1-2A Enhanced Ashigaru "Kirin". These were used to protect the capital ships of the 2XF allowing them to concentrate on the enemy.

When the 6SF engaged the enemy the NMX forces were dealt a swift and decisive victory. Once the hostilities were concluded, the 6SF was left to secure the gate and the 2XF headed to Chiharu no Iori in orbit above Daichi to repair their ships and rebuild their losses.
