The Nostril Nanotech Filter (NNF) is an insertable nostril filter that removes odors from the air. It was first released by Lux Aurora in YE 30. It was updated in YE 46.

Ever since the first pioneers left Noria for Ayenee in YE 01, the demand for a product to reduce the smell of other humanoid species has been a priority. The first solution was a full face mask, followed by a partial facemask. As the years past and the Norian honed their technology and began to miniaturize several gagets, in YE 30, the first insertable nostril filter was created. In YE 46, the product was updated again by Lux Aurora which enhanced the wearability by increasing comfort of the device's place in the nostrils. They also switched to a nanotech filter for even better filtration and eliminated the need for constant filter changes.

For most Norians, the smell created by other humanoid species especially those that utilize Perspiration as a means of Thermoregulation is unbearable. Atmosphere lingers longer in the spiral-shaped lungs and all the way up to the nostrils, which dramatically increases the potency of the odors. The smell of sweat and other bodily fluids can be enough to make them vomit or feel nauseated. This is noticed particularly by those traveling to other worlds for the first time. The Nostril Nanotech Filter provides the solution to this problem, discretely and comfortably. They can be purchased or created in the fabrication area of most starships.

The Nostril Nanotech Filter (NNF) are small, conical/dome-shaped to fit snugly inside the nostrils without obstructing breathing. They are made with a soft, flexible, memory polymer for a comfortable fit. When they are inserted in the nostrils they are not visible to others.

The replaceable internal layer composed of nanofibers that actively trap and neutralize specific odor molecules. Nanopores in the filter are tuned to absorb and deactivate compounds associated with strong body odors, such as sulfur or amines. The filters only need to be changed once every three months as that the nanomaterial is antimicrobial and can be cleaned by just rinsing out the assembly and snapping it back into place. Nanoparticles coated with catalytic enzymes that break down trapped odor molecules into harmless, odorless compounds. Some military models can also filter out harmful pollutants in the air.

Military models of the NNF, have microprocessors embedded into the device along with a small rechargeable capacitor so that air quality is monitored in real-time and adjusts the filter's responsiveness to odors. The information is passed to the user via their Sthibon Symbiote.

The Nostril Nanotech Filter (NNF) is utilized by Norians to filter our offensive smells from the atmosphere. The capacitors carry enough charge to operate for 24 hours continuously before they require recharge or replacement.
