Backpack modules are the heart of the Impulse Powered Armor, changing it from a simple heavy, vacuum-capable armor suit, into a full-fledged power armor with the ability to go toe-to-toe with much more advanced pieces of military machinery. While centralizing important components in a backpack unit is somewhat dangerous, it allows an armor to be easily resupplied or re-equipped for various missions, giving the suit a modular capability which cannot be matched by most contemporary units.
Price: 800 KS (Included with the purchase of one Impulse Powered Armor)
The backpack unit contains a basic shield projector system which projects a 3.5 meter bubble around the suit, giving it light protection against both kinetic and energy weapons. This shield can deflect many types of small arms, but larger, more powerful weapons are likely to penetrate or collapse the shielding.
SP: 5 (Threshold 1)
A single fusion plant acts as the power generator, capable of carrying enough fuel for forty eight hours of regular activity and up to twelve hours of heavy combat or other strenuous activity. The fusion power source provides power for every system in the suit, with the largest percentage of energy going to the Impulse's AI. The thrusters are also a source of rapid power drain, but can be marginalized by reduced use.
The thruster module integrated into the backpack grants the Impulse Power Armor System the ability to fly, boost while on the ground, and propel itself through space. The thruster module consists of several small nozzles placed around the armor; in vacuum, they function as micro fusion thrusters. In atmosphere, the thruster pack functions by compressing atmospheric gasses and then exciting them into a plasma state, ejecting them from the desired nozzles for propulsion. In space and vacuum, the Impulse has a finite supply of compressed atmospheric gasses to propel itself with. This supply allows the Impulse to move through space for four hours of light movements and only half an hour of vigorous combat maneuvering.
Ground speed: 45 MPH running, 120 MPH boosted. Air speed: 200 MPH Zero Atmosphere: .08c
The backpack has a proprietary system which may be used in conjunction with ODM. It consists of a retractable cable from the backpack unit that ends with an adapter leading to an IHVC. This tethered power system allows Origin made weapons to have a nearly unlimited supply of energy for ammunition so long as the backpack's fusion power generator is active. This same system may also be used to rapidly recharge Origin's interchangeable high volume capacitors as well. When not in use, the power cable retracts into the body of the backpack unit along with the adapter, which protrudes two inches from the side of the pack for easy access in times of need. There is a total of two cable/adapter units on the backpack, with one on each side.
The standard backpack has slots for a total of five automated and manually controlled drones. The drones themselves are mass produced, cheap, disposable and easily replaced. The drones themselves are often sold in blister packs of five units each.
The assault backpack unit contains an enhanced shield projector system which projects a 3.5 meter bubble around the suit, giving it moderate protection against both kinetic and energy weapons. This shield can deflect many types of small arms and larger weapons. However, heavy weapons and anti-PA weapons are only slowed by the shield, and will penetrate or collapse the field.
SP: 15 (Threshold 3)
The assault pack contains three micro-fusion power generators which all generate energy for the impulse to function. Their total output equals that of the standard fusion plant in the standard pack, but provides a deal of redundancy in the case that individual reactors are damaged or destroyed. Special blowout paths have been integrated into the pack, allowing for the hot plasma to escape away from the main body of the Impulse in the case of a catastrophic breach without compromising the total integrity of the assault pack. Enough fuel is carried for twelve hours of regular activity, or up to four hours of heavy combat activities. The micro-fusion power generators provide energy to every system in the suit. The highest percentage of power consumption goes to the AI system, followed by the propulsion and thruster system.

The overall performance and output of the assault propulsion systems are higher without sacrificing simplicity, durability or ease of repair. In addition, the unit houses a basic inertia damper system that absorbs kinetic energy from sudden, rapid maneuvers or from kinetic impacts.

SP: 8 (Threshold 2)
The space backpack contains a small Aether 'generator' which serves to provide power to every system in the suit. However, the highest percentage of energy consumption is attributed to the AI and the propulsion system, with the thrusters taking up even more depending on use. While the armor technically has an unlimited run-time, range is limited to five days; the air recycling system eventually malfunctions from continuous use, after which, the atmosphere inside the suit becomes unbreathable.
STL: STL propulsion is provided by a set of ion thrusters, which are useless in atmosphere but provide excellent acceleration and speed in space. In addition, the unit houses a more advanced inertia damper system than that seen in the Assault variant; it absorbs kinetic energy from sudden, rapid maneuvers directly associated with power armored space combat and kinetic impacts.
Top Speed: .20c
FTL: FTL is achieved through a Miniaturized CDD loosely based off and inspired by Yamataian designs. It creates a 3.6 meter bubble around the armor, allowing it to be propelled at faster than light speeds for short periods of time. This system is only useful within a star system, as it does not have the range to travel any further before the air filtration system malfunctions and fails from constant use.
Top speed: 2000c Range: In-system

The OI-M2-W4000 Spider is utility pack designed to use Origin Industries's modular hard point system. Though it can be equipped on a dorsal mount or a lower back mount, it is intended for lower back mounting on personnel class armor, not power armors.(Though it can work for power armors as well). The Spider unit became available in YE 36
Government: N/A Organization: N/A Type: Powered Armor/Suit accessory Class: OI-M2-W4000 Designer: Yori Kataoka Manufacturer: Origin Industries Production: Mass Production Price: 3000KS
Because the Spider was not designed for use with power armors it is equipped with a simple gravity propulsion system for general use, and small maneuvering thrusters for space.
The Spider runs on a HONEY DROP reactor that supplies more than enough power as the unit does not draw constant power. Constant heavy use can drain the reactor within a day, but normal work use results in replacing the fuel every 3 days.
The spider has 4 mechanical 'arms' roughly a meter and a half long with 3 'fingers' at the end. They were designed similar to the arms of the OI-M2-P3600 Helping Hand but with higher tolerances, each arm able to take up to 1500lbs of pressure before giving out. Though these can be moved liked arms, their primary purpose is to be support legs to fire the Graviton beam at higher strengths without being thrown back.
There is a Graviton projection system attached to the spider unit that functions both as a ranged weapon, as well as a utility device that can move objects in 3 dimensional space. The control force can go all the way up to 4000 pounds. It is advised not to use such force Unless in either a Power armor or with the mechanical arms deployed as stabilizing units Based on OI-W32-1a Magic Hand
The Target Operation EXternal Interference Chip (TOXIC) was designed to increase the wearer's survival rate when dealing with hostiles without the use of conventional weaponry. The chip is a 3cm wide adhesive disc that is deployed from a small rail gun and sticks to a target. The primary function of the chip is to misalign the targeting systems of the victim by sending out several different signal burst. Because the range is small the chip must stay attached to work, to hid this the chip gives a small electric shock on contact to momentarily stun the victim and give off the impression that it is intended to stop the victim through shocking them.
