The Starhawk is an inexpensive, medium-sized starfighter intended for civilian defensive use, or as a Garrison fighter for planets that don't have regular military protection or cannot afford more advanced fighters.
Designed in YE 44, the Starhawk was built to provide a larger, more powerful platform than a Scimitar Starfighter or OI-V2-1A Swordbreaker Interceptor that was simple, reliable, and effective. As it was a solo project, and lacked major funding like other projects going on at the time, the Starhawk took longer to develop, as engineering to a price point tends to be more difficult than engineering to a performance metric. after several revisions and a lot of testing, the Starhawk was finally brought to market in YE 45.
